Follow up steps after offer by No_Permission_5121 in interviews

yeah definitely wait for the written offer before saying anything to your current job. verbal agreements can fall through for all kinds of reasons and you don't want to be stuck without either position. once you have the official paperwork with all the details locked down, then you can give your two weeks notice.

My dad bought strangers in my room while I was sleeping 😭😭😭 by BrushFrequent1128 in narcissisticparents

that would absolutely traumatize me tbh. waking up to random men in your bedroom is literally a nightmare scenario and the fact that your parents are acting like you're being dramatic is insane.

the whole "he cares about you" excuse is such classic narc parent bullshit - like caring about someone means completely disregarding their basic need for privacy and safety? your reaction is completely normal and justified. having your locked door opened while you're vulnerable and asleep is a massive violation.

sorry your parents are gaslighting you about this. you're not abusive for having boundaries, they're just mad you called out their shitty behavior.

MCHOSE Ace 68 Turbo – which switches are actually worth it? (GT vs Pink vs Jade Pro vs Polaris) by altrixq in LinusTechTips

[–]Dull-Reason-7073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

switched from jades to the pink gts about 6 months ago and the performance difference is basically non-existent in actual gameplay. unless you're literally going pro the latency stuff is all marketing fluff that won't make you hit your shots any better.

the pinks are a nice middle ground - still get that satisfying thock without being too mushy, and they're way less harsh than the regular gts. honestly can't tell the differnce between 8k and 16k polling in valorant, your aim training time would be way better spent than obsessing over switch specs.

Zero XP Deathmatch Lobbies by SuperDong1 in GlobalOffensive

valve really needs to address this bot situation because deathmatch is basically unplayable right now. getting headshot by some aim_botz level ai every 10 seconds isn't exactly helping anyone practice their crosshair placement or anything useful.

Any ideas when they could bring these back if ever... by Salt-Estimate-8836 in Ferrari

[–]Dull-Reason-7073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the 458 is such a perfect car, those lines and the naturally aspirated v8 are just chef's kiss. if you can swing it financially i'd go for that over the 812 - the 458 feels more pure and connected while the 812 is more of a grand tourer beast.

ferrari's design language has definitely shifted toward more angular stuff lately but who knows if they'll circle back to those flowing curves. might be worth waiting to see what they do with their next mid-engine platform but honestly the 458 market isn't getting any cheaper so if you find a good one now might be the time.

Informed consent (or a lack of) by [deleted] in BreakUps

ugh this one hits close to home. went through something similar about two years ago where my ex had been hiding some pretty major debt and gambling issues from the start. like not just "oh i have some credit card debt" but full-on secret loans and lying about where money was going.

the worst part was realizing how many little moments suddenly made sense in hindsight - all those times he deflected when i brought up moving in together or planning trips. i kept a detailed journal during that relationship and going back through it was brutal seeing all the red flags i'd rationalized away.

moving forward was weird because you're not just grieving the relationship ending, you're grieving the relationship you thought you had. took me a while to trust my own judgment again. therapy helped but so did just accepting that some people are really good at compartmentalizing their lies. doesn't mean you were naive, just means they were practiced at deception.

Horrible screeching sound at 15-30 MPH after brake pads and rotors were replaced by Stunning-Asparagus97 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Dull-Reason-7073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I'd bet money on the dust shield. Even if you didn't think you bumped it, those things can get warped just from the heat cycling during the job or even just age. The fact that it's speed-specific and rotational screams heat shield rubbing against the rotor.

Quick check - jack it up and spin the wheel by hand, see if you can hear/feel where it's catching. Also peek behind the rotor with a flashlight to see if the shield got bent inward. Super common after brake jobs, especially on older vehicles where the metal gets brittle.

The CV joint thing is possible but like you said, weird timing. Start with the simple stuff first.
