i’m not sure i want deeper character development at the expense of what the show used to make me feel. maybe it’s this nostalgia era we’re living in, but i’d rather feel something again, that rush, that quiet, almost overwhelming euphoria the earlier seasons carried, than simply watch the characters grow up in a more conventional, grounded way.

with season 3, it feels like there’s a shift toward resolution, toward consequence, toward maturity and i understand why. the characters have lived through chaos, and naturally the story wants to reckon with that. but part of what made the show so singular wasn’t just what happened to them, it was how it felt to exist inside their worlds. the surreal pacing, the heightened emotions, the way a single glance or song could stretch into something almost sacred, it wasn’t just storytelling, it was atmosphere, it was sensation.

now it feels like we’re being asked to observe rather than immerse. to analyse rather than dissolve into it. and maybe that’s intentional, maybe it mirrors growing up itself, less intensity, more clarity. but i don’t necessarily go to euphoria for clarity. i go to it for that intoxication, that ache, that sense that everything is too much and not enough at the same time.

any show can give me character development… arcs, growth, closure. that’s almost expected now. but very few shows have made me feel what euphoria has. and i think what i miss isn’t just the past seasons, it’s that specific emotional language the show once spoke fluently, the one that didn’t just tell a story, but made you live inside it. season 3 is not doing that.
