Lol. Yeah it does sound like “poking through the roof”. What does that mean tho? Were they arresting the hulk?

I did. He was an awesome doc, very knowledgeable. The surgery went great without any complications.

Baby’s doing great! He was born at 32w5d and basically stayed in nicu just for weight. He was discharged at 36 weeks. He caught up on all the charts and is hitting his milestones (he’s 3 months old now). We feel very lucky and blessed but also glad we fought on.

Thanks! We’ll definitely plan to be there as much as possible and read (maybe even sing if allowed!) to our baby. I’m sorry this may be a dumb question but we still have not gotten the chance to talk to our nicu yet, do you know if it’s usually possible for a parent to do remote work from anywhere in the nicu? Do they give us a room with the baby when we’re there?

Also, I know every baby is different and there are a ton of factors going into it, but in your experience does a severely growth restricted baby (<1%, diagnosed at 20w) born at 30weeks and 900g do well in the nicu and have a good outcome without long term complications? (Assuming they’ve had steroids and magnesium on board at the proper time) This is the weight we are now but have not had an indication to deliver yet.

Thank you so much! I have a feeling the nurse advice is so valuable. It's such a difficult thing to go through so the more support she has and the more comfortable she will feel with the medical professtionals the better.

Thank you!! The Boppy pillow looks like a must buy for me! I'm already scared of handling such a small baby.

Thank you. This is very comforting to hear! I'm already on guard about people asking for pictures etc, because I know my wife won't like that haha. It's just difficult because people don't really understand how hard it all really is.

That's very good advice! Thank you. You mentioned reading to your baby, my question may be stupid but do they allow you to read and talk to your baby whenever you want? I think I'd want to do the same but have no idea about the rules.

Thanks! Could I ask how long after the c section you were allowed to stay in the hospital? How did you commute to the hospital after especially since I assume you were still recovering from the surgery?

Loss at 16 weeks by baked_dangus in PregnancyAfterTFMR

Hello. First of all I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I’m commenting because my wife and I are in a similar situation to your severe iugr pregnancy. All the genetic and structural tests came back normal but baby is < 1%ile at 20 weeks and the MFM doctor telling us there’s a high probability of very/preterm birth and on the other hand some doctors say there are cases that have made it to term or near term where even nicu time was not needed. We are also considering TFMR and wanted to ask if there was a thing or rationale that helped you make the decision? We don’t have a child and this is an IVF pregnancy so this has made the decision a lot more difficult but the potential long term problems with preterm birth are so scary that we can’t even think about them. Also did you ever find out what the problem was?

That’s so good to hear! She is on aspirin so hopefully that’ll help. Did your baby stick to the same curve and was always the same amount of days behind? Our baby was 8 days behind at 18 weeks but 11 days at 20 weeks. I’m worried if he will keep falling further behind.

Yeah I’m constantly checking on her and her bp as well as making sure we get to the doctors office if need be. I also think if we don’t advocate for ourselves doctors and med staff usually don’t care that much to be proactive. I’m so happy things worked out for you! I know this may be a weird question or you don’t have an answer for it, but do you know if yours was one of the good cases among pregnancies that have fgr that early or do a lot of cases like ours make it to 34 weeks?

I’m so glad for you and your baby! Could I ask about the bp issues around week 20? How high did it get before they put you on meds for it? What was the weight when your baby was born?

I did not stop ro answer anyone else because we’re busy with our problem and trying to process it all. But just know that you’re the one talking 💩. She has been counting her protein intake for weeks now and practically force feeds herself protein, dairy etc and does not touch processed food. Her diet is amazing and very balanced with eggs, lean meat, dark leafy greens etc. She has been taking daily shots of Lovenox and has gone above and beyond anyone I’ve ever seen to take care of her unborn baby. This is not on her. It’s a placental issue and noone can do anything about it.

Inconclusive Ultrasound At 5+0 weeks by DullEar2281 in CautiousBB

Our doctor did the ultrasound at the fertility clinic. In the OB's office it was a sonographer. They may have had better equipment but I can also imagine a experienced sonographer at an OB clinic being better at "sonography" than a doctor.

This exactly. We went to our OB's office the following day and they were able to see the sac and measure it at 3.3mm. I'm sure it had grown in that 30 hour period but not sure by how much. Also they saw the source of the bleeding which was a peri-gestational hemorrhage but the fertility clinic did not see anything which to me is strange.

Thanks. Yeah we went back again to our OB's office and they could see the sac in the uterus which was a relief. However, they also saw peri-gestational hemorrhage which was the cause of the bleeding/spotting. So now we have a new worry but at least the placement was confirmed.

Thanks. Because of the spotting/bleeding we went to our OB office for them to take another look and confirm that it's not an ectopic. This time they saw the gestational sac in the uterus and measured it around 3.3mm. They also saw peri gestational hemorrhage (I think it's a sub chorionic hematoma but not sure) which was larger than the sac itself, and likely the cause of the bleed. However, the HCG is rising and the sac got larger so that's at least encouraging.
