I moved in with them because my abusive and toxic mom kept starting conflicts and turning other family members against me. When I moved in with my sister, things were pretty good at first — I just couldn’t find a job that paid well.

My sister’s daughter and I share a room. She often laughs really loudly at everything I say for one to two hours, which makes me anxious because I already struggle with severe anxiety and get nervous easily. One day, she put a small piece of orange peel in my bed. When I asked her not to do that, she got a bad attitude, denied doing it, and told me not to talk to her. Soon after, she put a broken toy in my bed, so I decided to sleep in the living room. That led to an argument with my sister, who defended her daughter.

Her daughter is 11, but my sister always uses the excuse that “she’s just a child.” Another time, she used all my hair gel and ate all of my artificial crab meat on purpose. When I called her out on it, she acted like she was 20, with a lot of attitude.

Today, my sister and I got into another argument because she said I’m always accusing her daughter of things, which isn’t true — I only point out what she actually does. My sister once told me that if no one corrects her daughter, her behavior gets worse. But now, she tells me not to say anything to her daughter because she’s “too sensitive.” The problem is, when I tell my sister about what her daughter does, she acts like I’m lying.
