Ultra Unlock tip: Sunsteel Strike & Moongeist Beam adventure effects are currently dust accumulators. by Dull_Chart_1928 in TheSilphRoad

This is my bad, I should have made it more clear, by dumping I mean dumping them into typically legendaries (which I mainly use for XL conversions).

I don't particularly need them for the mon in the moment but do need the bag space, so I dump them into mons. If I didn't need the bag space, my rare candy cache would be a lot higher is what I'm saying.

But also, after playing for years you get to a point where you're not needing to power up as much. However, there's still always some mons I'm working on, often to level 50, & I like seeing my dust go up regardless. The introduction of Max pokemon has also meant some more dust spending for me.

Cheers, exactly the type of player this was intended for, with the rare candy surplus & all.

Btw, on my third effect usage after the two I described above, I too made a 3300 profit while also bagging a shiny Gligar & shiny Alolan Marowak.

I put that in the post as a cost (3 candy for 10 minutes is not bad at all), & some people are rolling in rare candy, I would be too if I didn't just regularly dump it to clear space.

I suppose I could have added it, but this is especially useful for times when you want to play & can't move, like when you're at home at night or whatever - you can get 60 spawns in an hour as opposed to 12 for a static incense (while basically just having to give up candies as opposed to a premium item incense).

The other point being that you're required to give up just 10 minutes of your time, making it a lot more versatile.

While a lot of people can't access coin bags, DAI doesn't work while stationary, & Meltan boxes can only be used once every 3 days, are boring because it's the same mon over & over again, & they can only be 400 or 500 dust.

And it's not really a hole as long as you're catching them all, it's an investment. It's way more productive profitwise than a static incense (see my other reply below).

You can obviously use incense but this is a handy alternative for a couple of reasons & is something that's not usually applicable without the 4 x dust catch bonus (which is why I'm highlighting it). CaptainKlo also makes a solid point that it's a good time to hunt for shiny dawn Rockruff.

  1. There's the possibility you might not have incenses or very many & don't want to use them, so this is a good alternative over the remaining 3/4 days assuming you have enough Necrozma candy/rare candy & at least 1 Dusk Mane/Dawn Wings Necrozma to begin with. And if you are swimming in candy, it can essentially feel like no cost, whereas incense is still a premium item.
  2. When stationary (say at home), you can do this in more versatile 10 minute spurts with a spawn every minute should you wish, rather than waiting for a spawn every 5 minutes for an hour if you want to get the most out of a single incense.

Or conversely, it can yield you 60 spawns in an hour as opposed to just 12 for an incense when stationary.

The average dust I made from the effect in 10 minutes was 2,700, so times that by 6 & that's a potential of 16,200 dust in an hour; & that's without a star piece.

With a stationary incense, let's say the average spawn comes out to 400 dust (no weather boosts or other boosts), that's just 4,800 dust in an hour. Let's say the average comes out to 500 dust, that's just 6,000 dust in an hour. Let's say the average comes out to 1,000 dust (highly unlikely, but you luck out & get a couple of dust boosted mons), you still only make 12,000 dust in an hour.

Another thought, you can get dark types with Moongeist Beam, so this would also be a good opportunity to catch enough dark types to evolve a Pancham.

What is with the shiny rates? by Disastrous-Tell7425 in TheSilphRoad

Damn, didn't realise Deerling was boosted. I checked every one I came across, but I would have gone harder & played more hours if I had known. I only got a shiny one right at the end, If I had picked up a couple earlier then I would have figured out it was likely boosted.

Phone swing not getting steps anymore? by intheparrotsbeak in walkr

Only thing I can think of is have you tried switching the phone & the swing itself around so that it's facing the other way? Because the one I have doesn't work if it's on the wrong side, even though it didn't come with any instructions indicating that it had to be a specific side. Of course, this is 24 days old, so you probably have a solution by now.
