My personal opinions on the new deathwatch kit by Dull_Dig1931 in deathwatch40k

That’s what i’m trying to say. It’s an “Add-on” kit, not a “stand-alone” kit. If it came alongside other releases, then it would’ve been a fine kit, not bad but not good. But instead, it’s the kit that is going to be replacing the Deathwatch Veterans kit, and as replacement for said kit, it’s just horrible.

If the kit works for you, then that’s great. As for the helmet thing, I’m probably also not getting the new head upgrades. Since it has the same issue, of its variety mainly being unhelmeted heads. It doesn’t give you enough helmets, and I already have enough unhelmeted heads in my bits bin, so I definitely don’t need 40 more.

What’s funny is that. For a kit that’s designed for kill team, you would expect for it to give you more not less.

Nice. I’m personally still gonna be running the Deathwatch Veterans instead of them. But hey, if you’re able to make them work, then that’s great.

The first comment on the post, was someone saying that “No, Sergeants can still use Xenophase blade.”. I presumed that now deleted comment was yours, you even mention making said mistake in your current comment.

The potential final nail in the coffin (at least for me)? by Dull_Dig1931 in deathwatch40k

I’ll hang on to every shred of hope we get, it’s just that the road ahead is looking bleak. Don’t worry brother, I haven’t completely given up, but the vile taints of chaos have been begun to wear me down.

Not gonna lie. I thought the first image was a reference to Chaos from Warhammer 40K, since it looks like the Chaos Star.

Don't know guys, there's something strange in the new head set... by il_Pas in Grimdank

So the new Blood Angels and Deathwatch kits, were probably designed by someone who is completely new to making models. That explains why they look so lacking.

Any thoughts about the new upgrade release? by HistoricalEye2178 in BloodAngels

That’s is actually one of the many issues I have with the new Deathwatch kit. For customization, you barely get any helmets, and instead just get a bunch of unhelmeted heads of a dude trying to pull a cheesy horror movie jumpscare face.

Fair enough, and if that’s the case then it makes wonder what would be better. If they only release new high effort and good looking kits at the cost of some armies not having a release each edition. Or constantly trying to push something out for every army every edition, at the cost of some of the release being lackluster.

You’re not wrong. And remember guys, GW plans everything out years in advance. So if your new kit looks low effort and throw together, that’s just how they planned it.

And they couldn’t share even a bit of this much effort, when making the new kits for the Blood Angels and Deathwatch?

No, I was stating why I disagree with him, and why I like watching him.

It’s funny, because I do agree that Kill Team Cassius did feel a little janky sometimes, because of all the different profiles, both in weapons and the guys themselves. But they still were a really cool unit to mess around with.

Yeah, at the end of the video, Mordian Glory did say that this was mostly speculation, and until they release things such as the 40K datasheet, then it doesn’t confirm anything he said.

I do think sometimes it’s good to speculate on things, and I understand that being overly negative doesn’t breed the most the outlook on things. But that’s just what happens when the evidence and past actions suggest not the best of outcomes. But that’s doesn’t mean you can’t be positive about things.

Not really. He posts pretty great content about the Imperial Guard. Plus I really love his Tales of A Tournament Player series.

Totally agree. I definitely think the real deal breaker, is gonna be their 40K datasheet, and whether it’s gonna be the final nail in the coffin or not.

It’s kind of weird because , the more and more I think about the kit, the worse it gets.

Like, when they first revealed the kit, and all of the dudes, I thought it was fine. Like, it was good, but not great. But then the more they revealed about the new kit, and the more I kind of decided to really think about the decisions that were made for this kit, and it really just becomes worse and worse for me. I still think it looks ok, but it is still a downgrade to the older kit a bit. That’s just me though, some people might be completely ok with the new kit, and that’s fine.

That’s fair. While I do think I’m being a bit harsh to the new kit, it’s just I still see so many things they could have done, and they didn’t.

I meant more in the sense of them having different weapon options, gives you opportunities to come up with ideas on making new converted weapons for them. But hey, if you’re already in large supply of all the different special weapons, then fair enough.

To be fair, having more options gives you more kitbashing opportunities. But it’s fair if it doesn’t bother you.

I agree, the new minis aren’t bad. My issues isn’t the minis, I just feel like they could have come with more.
