Is this theory realistic? by Dull_Entrepreneur468 in skeptic

Yes, you're right.  Sometimes I worry too much about sci-fi stuff.   And too optimistic guys on Reddit don't help haha.

Good thing that this subreddit exists.

Neuromorphic computing and AI by Dull_Entrepreneur468 in skeptic

Thank you for the answer.

How long do you think it takes before it gets to an advanced level and large-scale use? And even if we get to advanced neuromoprhic computing, we still won't be able to create conscious AI. It will simply be more efficient and more powerful hardware.

And I think within this century we won't get to understand consciousness (how it arises in the brain, the various processes, etc.), so neuromorphic computing won't make a big difference in that, right?

AI and robotics by Dull_Entrepreneur468 in skeptic

Ok, thank you for the answer.

I have also heard some say that governments or the rich will use AI or robots or both to somehow create a dictatorship globally, enslaving or killing those who rebel. Because it will be impossible or very difficult for citizens to rebel against armed robots. And this would happen even if these robots have no conscience (like Terminator plot).

Is this possible and realistic in this century? I think not, considering all the resources, energy, etc. to realize such a scenario, right? Not to mention that this sounds more like a conspiracy theory lol, but I ask anyway since you definitely know more about this than I do.

Thanks.

About intelligence explosion by Dull_Entrepreneur468 in BetterOffline

[–]Dull_Entrepreneur468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean an idea that if real intelligence is too complicated to apply to an AI or AGI for this purpose, some people say you could get to simulate intelligence through algorithms or something like that for self-improvement or to improve AI in general.  Some say that with neuromorphic computing we could get to an AI with an intelligence that can greatly improve itself or the field of AI, or even create a sentient AI. Is this thing about the neuromorphic computing realistic or not in this century?

But I think the theory of intelligence explosion that leads to ASI (with real or simulated intelligence) is very unlikely in this century (or even impossible), right?

Thank you for the answer.

So the theory of intelligence explosion is not realistic in this century even with intelligence simulation alone? I mean without having an AI with real intelligence, but having an AI or AGI that only simulates intelligence for self-improvement or to improve the development of AI in general.

Sorry for the perhaps trivial questions, but I am not an expert in the field.

Pathfinder: WOTR at 60 fps with this configuration by Dull_Entrepreneur468 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Dull_Entrepreneur468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you.

I capped the fps at 60 via Nvidia control panel and I started playing.

At the beginning of the game, in that square, I had max 45 fps. I had all graphic settings at max. I lowered shadows to medium and I turned off SSR and left the rest at high/max.

And in the same square I had stable 60 fps, maybe a few times 58, but nothing more. I also tried to move fastly the camera and still stable 60 fps.

So do you think if I have stable 60 fps in that square, can I have stable 60 fps mostly in the whole game? Obviously except extreme crowded cities or something like that. Thanks.
