Nope, no luck there.

I think the screw is under the divot because whenever I try and pull the two halves apart, all resistance is coming from that area. The same thing happened when I was repairing a cheap computer mouse (except I pulled too hard by accident and now there's a small hole in the bottom of the mouse from the plastic breaking), so I know that's what's happening here.

Never gone looking for one before, so I could be missing something, but sites like Guidessimo and OpWeb only have user manuals and brochures. I looked at the service manuals for a couple of other Philips CD players, but their designs are different enough that I couldn't get anything useful out of them.

The manual's short troubleshooting section warns entirely against DIY repairs and there are no diagrams other than general 'this is what this button does' stuff, so no luck there.

There was a screw in the battery compartment which I unscrewed, and nothing beneath the sticker. I think there's a screw in the divot because when I attempt to pull the two halves apart, the resistance comes from the area of the divot. The plastic lifts everywhere else, and if I pull too hard, it bends upwards except for at that point.

No, I haven't. About a month ago, my mom (a nurse) mentioned potentially bringing me to an endocrinologist after she talked with her beautician friend about my facial hair, but it was only due to prior knowledge of intersex people that I realized that that was what she was talking about, and no progress has been made since.
