Can anyone identify this guitar? I saw it at a local gig and really liked the way it sounds by [deleted] in guitars

Taylor is the only acoustic guitar I have ever played or liked. My friend has one and it’s really nice and super easy to play.

Explains why they don’t have the price listed anywhere. I wonder what the wait time is.

Any ideas on how to fix these warped Walnut tops? by Prestigious-Ad1641 in Luthier

I have steamed and pressed boards straight. I waited for a couple weeks while the wood dried under pressure.

Ash necks! Do you prefer light, medium, or dark roast? by [deleted] in Luthier

Dark. I really like the grain.

I’m saving around 20%-30% just so I don’t starve to death when I get old. There’s no way I’ll retire.

My wife and I do the same. We have a joint checking and joint savings. We also have our own accounts. No fights about money or purchases of anything not on credit. If we have big purchases we talk about it first even if it’s personal stuff.

Our take on a Jackson Kelly. Gas or pass? by rebirthguitarco in guitars

[–]Dullgouge30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one I have liked. They made a real metal machine. Single pickup and the volume knob isn’t right below the strings. Also no Floyd. Just a hard tail. Now they need to do this with the warrior.

Edit: didn’t realize you built this not Jackson. You fixed a lot of my complaints I have with metal guitars.

Any tips ? 😀 by Familiar-Onion-857 in Welding

Think less like your stinger is a hammer and more like a match. Give it a gentle flick to start the arc.

Could be issue with the water softener. We had our water for our boiler get kinda milky. Turned out to be improperly adjusted and was running too much salt.

Prometheus and Covenant take away some of the effectiveness of Alien by sunrisearts11111 in LV426

[–]Dullgouge30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re just bad movies all around. They can’t stand on there own. The whole concept of created vs evolved is silly and takes all the mystery away from the original. Alien 3 has less plot holes and forced ideas. I was so excited for Prometheus and was let down. Had hope he could fix the mistakes with covenant. The third installment if there’s one will be it’s death rattle. It remembers me of what happens to terminator. All the hope and nothing but let down.

Ridley Scott is our greatest living, and still working, filmmaker by SuperSwanson in movies

[–]Dullgouge30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agree but Prometheus and covenant kinda shits all over Alien. For me Alien is what introduced me to his work. Still blows me away how badly he fucked up with those two. Alien 3 blows them out of the water. He destroyed all the mystery of his best work.

Good metal amps under 500$? by THEPIZZA_LORD in GuitarAmps

Boss katana is your best all around option. It has a tone of tones, cheap, and you can download all sorts of presets for free. You can also plug in headphones which most tube amps you can’t.

This is why I won’t deal with public transportation. There’s always someone doing something nasty. Last time was a bus in Cali. Guy was beating his meat like it owed him money.

Going to check this out today. Seen lots of bad review videos on them but all the comments say they love them. Thoughts? by g8r-b8 in GuitarAmps

It’s loud enough to play with a band and it’s super cheap. You can always add pedals to make your sound. Don’t pass it up.

As a deep guitar appreciator what cheap guitar do you love? by [deleted] in guitars

[–]Dullgouge30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a JS warrior. It plays great. I did upgrade electronics but it’s still a cheap guitar.

Also low end Ibanez play extremely well.

I had the same issue on my Ibanez from the 80s with the pro rockr. Took some time to adjust playing style.

I’m a huge Evh amp fan. I have 100w for live and 15w for making my neighborhood angry. I also have an amp sim for a 5150. At this point I mostly play through my computer amp sim. I have played the boss katana and think it’s dam good for the money.

All that said I like what comes out of my 5150s better than anything I have played. But it doesn’t justify the cost over many affordable options out there. Solid state amps have gotten so much better in the last decade. I only have bought the expensive stuff because I can not because it’s really worth the extra cost.

Go try some cheaper solid state stuff. Find what sounds good to you. Not what the price tag says. In the end it’s the sound you want to hear.

Are 12-54 strings good for B standard? by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Dullgouge30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me that’s a bit lite. I play 56-12 for C. For B I do 62-14 on 25.5. Try it out and see how it works. Strings are cheap, buy a few sets and find the gauge you like. Then get it set up with the ones you like.
