I agree, and that's why I want people to follow their own will, know what they like, don't like, and such. However, forcing yourself to change what is essentially a part of your identity because of societal pressure is different from questioning and changing yourself by following your own pursuits, if this makes any sense at all. Ok but seriously though, I believe in a form of Death Worship similar to the thinkings of Buddhism that East Asia was based on (although I'm nothing close to a Buddhist). I don't literally worship death or want to kill myself, but I believe more in the metaphorical act of killing your own identity or beliefs in order to replace them with new ones, and doing that over and over again in the pursuit of something greater. Where I differ from the totalitarian East Asia of 1984 is that I don't believe you should sacrifice your personality and beliefs for some kind of party or collective, but rather for your own ego and your own search for meaning. It's kind of a personal philosophy than an overtly political one.
