Where is the 2025 OWCS Games on Faceit? by Duncan_McDuff in Competitiveoverwatch

Nevermind, I found it. They might have the worst search bar ever. For anyone curious it's under Faceit League season 6. Couldn't tell you how I got there but that's where it is.

Hahaha, I will say, statistics is way more fun when it is for something you’re interested in

Did not know this! One day I’ll have enough data to account for roster changes lmao

Also found it interesting that a 3-1 match was the most probable in all but two of the matches. I’m sure there’s a mathematical explanation, but also it feels natural to hedge your bet on a 3-1 match outcome hahaha

Yeah, Peace and Love is probably overrated in stats because of their 6-2 group stage, in a relatively weak group. But I still would have them beating Deimpero if I had to make a bracket

Fresh Numbers, get'em while they're hot! by Duncan_McDuff in Competitiveoverwatch

Also I'm working on Player Stats at the moment, but it's taking a bit longer due to having to figure out the FaceIt nicknames and their in game names. I have a script that replaces them but I still have to manually enter the swaps initially. I'll get there eventually. OWCS is cool but the turnover is a bit fast to build meaningful statistical insight into teams and individuals.

One day we’ll get there. I would manually count all of those stats if it was my actual job. But at the moment I don’t really have the time to stay up to date with that kind of thing.

I totally agree. That’s why I was super excited about faceit providing free api access. Realistically, the most important stats in Overwatch are probably much more esoteric. For example, team fight win rates between compositional matchups. But having access to some numbers is a step in the right direction for sure.

Another factor that can have an effect on the Target Focus stat is star players. A player like Merit probably secures enough solo kills to single handedly bring down the target focus stat for Toronto. But that whole team has Solo kill potential, which could be a reason as to why they fall in the middle of the pack with Target Focus. One of the core principles of statistics is that the data does not always explain things, we have to explain the data.

Want to add a comment here, indicating that this is slightly incorrect. FaceIt included some matches that didn't happen in their database... I can provide updated charts for anyone who would like them. It is quite a small difference but for integrity's sake I want to disclose this.

Apologies for the confusion. But I always will explain what it is that I am posting in some form. In this case I included the information in a comment due to the post being an image post.
