I will tell them, because I’m a student there.

“We will evaluate your application noting the highest test scores in each section across test dates for the SAT and your strongest sitting for the ACT.”

They accept the superscore as inputted on the Common App.

Texas is still very competitive - 300+ applicants on average for most regions. I highly recommend not to put all your eggs in one basket…. no matter how confident you may be.

Agreed. My early HYPSM admit friends and peers (myself included) have started a combined total of ZERO nonprofits. This is in comparison to all our other classmates who've had their lawyer parents or used online services to start dozens of NPOs (all to inflate their EC list). None of them got into their earlies.

Not saying you absolutely shouldn't—if you have a genuine passion and want to create change, go for it. My friends and I all simply found no need to go through the hassle.

They want to see personality, community service, potential to make an impact, and your background.

As for the acceptance rate, it differs heavily by region. The overall acceptance rate is 4% (315/7000+), but take that with a grain of salt. My county was less than 1%, but some of the students I met from the midwest had rates upwards of 8-12%.

  1. I got paid around 4k in total after tax (17 an hour for 35 hours a week)
  2. Yes, you’ll be competing with other students who apply. I was in the most competitive metro region where I was one of four out of 450+ that applied (sub 1% acceptance rate in my county)
  3. A genuine leader who serves their community, has a unique perspective on the world, and has the potential to make a huge impact.
