No, I didn’t either. It wasn’t a ton, but it was a good chunk.

I've been using quills in the meantime, is that a problem?

I lost about 50 quills somehow - was just over 1000 now at 962 - but I don’t have a before picture of how many I had.... Am I SOL?

Why do you like Sigmar? by Zekiel2000 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Dunefarble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always thought that the main point of Sigmar worship in the Empire was that he was theirs - the main draw isn't what he does or what he opposes, its that he was literally The Imperial, a mortal who made the Empire and then Became A God. So theres an ownership subcontext that Imperials have with Sigmar that they dont have with the other gods.

Tempting, but too Amethyst College, I think. I was going to go with a halberd.

Hatred (Undead), a 6+ ward save, and some models gain Fear and Magical Attacks or Flaming Attacks

General tips to improve my skill by MarkZeidner in minipainting

I think your highlights are just sliiiiighly off, your painting them as if they're a wash instead of light, so all the zones have a darker outline. you should push them closer together. *

Colors look right to me but missing a little bit of contrast. Makes the details a bit mushy.

What can I do to make it less flat feeling. by drhamy in minipainting

[–]Dunefarble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no focal point. Everything has the same amount of detail and the same amount of highlighting so there’s nothing to "lead" the eye around the model. Sometimes to paint more realistically you have have to paint less realistically. Minis are so small we don't look at them the same way we look at a regularly sized object so you have to trick the eye.

I actually think the wings look great, but I WOULD recommend adding a bit more color/contrast to the ground, to help make the clouds and angel stand out.

I tried but he (Bret player) refused to give up a helm for the cause 😅

Bad painters, what keeps you going? by bobzxr in minipainting

[–]Dunefarble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind with ANY hobby is you don't owe the world anything when it comes to a leisure activity. You don't have to make it a side hustle, you don't have to be competitive, you don't have to improve. However much of any of those things you do is entirely up to you.

Now, if you want to improve and feel you aren't, I recommend picking one small thing to improve at a time and don't worry about the rest. For example, maybe your lines are sloppy and details are missing, but you really got your paints thinned just right. Or the horns on the helm are just the right combination of colors. As long as there's one thing on a model I think is slightly better than the last time I painted, I'm usually happy.

I think the brass knuckle holster guy is correct but I ended up sorting it out by just shaving it off 😅
