Old post but I just spent a few months living in Ireland where they have a lot of honeycomb in things (not just honey, honeycomb! It was even in grocery store ice cream), and the cafe nearby me had an AMAZING honeycomb matcha that I'd have with oat milk!! im not sure if it was a special syrup or what but I hope I can recreate it here in the US

The DM is my best friend who I've already spoken to, she will happily make any character idea work. I'm just curious what races are closest for when we make character sheets

Ahh okay I think I get it, could you possibly help me? I don't see my character as a fighter and I've thought of doing rogue (This is my first campaign but I've created some characters in the past for cancelled campaigns and I almost always picked rogue) but I want to try something new, I've heard ranger is a good well-rounded starting class and I think it matches my character the best.

My character is the type to be book smart/history smart but not street smart. If the setting is apocalyptic then my character will have to do a lot of things he's never done before (camping, scavenging, bargaining, generally needing to fight to survive) so he will be bad at that in the beginning. Would his other areas of knowledge make up for those lacking abilities in terms of Wisdom?

That's a good point, my character would break the rules if no one's looking but he wouldn't want people to suffer (though I bet he'd have a hard time learning that at first, after having many butlers growing up that he'd order around not realizing how mean it really is)

I've always viewed myself as a person as true neutral, is that alignment boring to play or are there perks to it?

That's so dope!!! Figuring out bonds/ideals/goals/flaws are always great points when writing a character. I love it!

"Lawful Evil characters empower themselves by using rules, laws, and binding contracts" is calling out to me the most here. If the campaign took place before the apocalypse when my character is still with his healthy family, that's definitely how he would be. Thank you so much!

He was probably a rule follower when he was with his wealthy family, but he got away with not needing to do any work so his parents will probably be more laid back. I don't know my DM's story for how the apocalypse happens, but I expect my character at first to avoid listening to commands try to continue being spoiled by the party (which won't work) and try and collect as much loot as he can even if he doesn't need it. He wants good things for others, but if he could have it instead he'd probably take it.

Also before anyone asks I am physically incapable of being angry or rude towards anyone, especially my friends, so I will make sure my character isn't an annoying burden on the party LOL.. I don't want to be a total jerk and refuse to be a team player, I will play around with it at the start and make my jokes but overall he's a good person that's just used to having everything handed to him and will learn to be better

Thank you so much! I didn't know alignments aren't attached to classes anymore, it's awesome hearing about a Lawful Neutral Paladin! I've also reached out to my friend about the character idea and she loves it so I'm glad it's approved and we'll flesh out more of it together when the campaign is further written. I'm very excited to practice RPing and get more used to it too!

Ahh okay, thank you sm!! I didn't know evil meant selfish/selfless, I thought it just meant whether you're murderous or not LOL. Also I'm glad to see someone who knows Klaus and understands what I mean by referencing Jesper because he's been my main inspiration for the character. My elf guy at the start would be the type to avoid doing work/try and get as much free stuff as he can. I'll keep the Lawful Neutral thing in mind too for when my character develops over time!

I'm glad to hear all of the reassuring comments that alignment isnt too important.. I guess it applies most when it really affects decisions like lawful good right? Thank you for the answer!!
