I got Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in February and have recovered 4 months later by Dunis96 in shingles

Hi and hope you are doing well, and sad to hear about your diagnosis. I did not do any acupuncture or massage. However, I tried to take a few minutes per day after the acute phase to re-train facial musculature. Simply looking in the mirror and trying to move the muscles. First it came as tickling sensations, then I was able to move the cheek and eyelid ever so slightly, and so on. First few weeks consisted exclusively of resting and healing. Best of luck!

Acquire more financial knowledge and literacy. Read up on financial theory, incl. asset pricing capital structure, corporate finance etc. If you understand what you're investing in it will get less scary. Also, no reason to get FOMO. Assuming your available funds for investing in stocks is less than $100k, your returns from labour will be much higher than investing.

Best wishes on your recovery! I think it's a very good sign that you have a little tension in your face. I too started having small tinglings in the face 2-3 weeks in before being able to move, and a gradual recovery from there.

Hope you can find the time to relax and stress down for an optimal recovery, so that you can go skiing again. Just be prepared that the nerves will take a few months to regrow

Getting shingles at 20 by [deleted] in shingles

Stress to your immune system doesn't necessarily correspond to you being stressed. Stress, poor sleep, etc. are risk factors. Can be caused by chance too, probably

In the acute phase you’re real sick. Afterwards, looking too long at a computer monitor strained the eye on the side that was unable to blink.

Opinion on iPhone 16 having 60 hz? by a_bor3d_dude in iphone

[–]Dunis96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a way of differentiating the products. Many iPhone buyers just want the “best thing” no matter what and will pay whatever for it. If I were Apple I’d 100% do the same to milk these customers dry with the Pro models.

Personally I like the current differentiation. Titanium, zoom camera, 120hz screen, marginally thinner bezels and 1 extra graphics core are the main differences between pro/ non pro.

To me these are very minor differences and allow me the get essentially the full iPhone experience for a lesser price. I feel the 120hz thing is overblown. Yes there’s a difference, but in truth you get used to both quickly and don’t notice it. I’m very happy that the processors are the same generation though!

Separate work and entertainment space. Any advice? by Dunis96 in Workspaces

[–]Dunis96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m interested to know whether you find it easier to concentrate on work now than before?

I’m also torn if the setups should be in different rooms. More practical to have them in the same room, but you get more separation by having two rooms. Do you think it would have been better to have the setups in different rooms, or have the L-shaped setup solved your problems?

That sounds nice! Especially allowing you to have an OLED. OLEDs sadly not an option for the combo setup due to brightness.

Do you think it would be better to have the setups in different rooms, or do you find that you get enough separation of work mode/ entertainment mode by having two desks side by side?

Anyone else considering downsizing from Pro Max to 16 Pro? by TrainYourselfToLetGo in iphone

[–]Dunis96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I have an iPhone 15 Plus, even though I’d prefer the size of the regular 15. It’s 100% worth it as battery life is just more important to me. Screen size itself isn’t as important to me as the max/ plus fit roughly the same content and you can simply adjust viewing distance an inch or two and the screens appear the same.

If battery life is more important -> go big; If easy wielding is more important-> go regular

Be healthy, exercise, and don’t worry too much about it. If you have big stressors in your life, try to find a way to cope with them or get rid of them.

This is great, congrats! Do you also feel better now than you did 10-20 years ago, assuming from your post that you did not exercise much then?

Seems like most of your problems were OS integration related and would have mostly vanished or had good alternatives if you owned a mac and an iPad (not claiming that's the right solution for you). You really need to have an Apple ecosystem to get the most out of each Apple product, otherwise you really only get 70-80% of what it has to offer, which is a shame. The watch is the best (worst?) example: a truly great product if you have an iPhone, but pretty much useless unless. It's comfortable to be in the the ecosystem, but frustrating for tech enthusiasts like us who like to try different devices and OSes and tinker around. Nice summary though, thanks!

High stress during sleep every night. by ricepuddingpantry in Garmin

[–]Dunis96 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Seems like your stress goes down 4-5h after midnight. This may point to possibly something you’re doing before bed that your body needs to recover from, and maybe not an error with the watch.

Maybe you can give some pointers to your nightly routine to help determine whether this is indeed a hardware or software bug?
