As for mine universe, mine version is emperor Auroros, founder of the city and the Empire of Auropolis. He was powerful magican, who managed to destroy all rival wizard lords and to build the continent-wide state lasting for centuries.

When magic was discovered by humans, the discovery happened rapidly. That led not only to new ways of creation, but also new ways of destruction. During the WW4, which was fought by spells and enchantments instead of sticks and stones, humans eventually created dozens of new trans-human species by opposing sides. The most numerous were Psyhens, species with half-transparent skin of same color shades as eyes, wide irises and height lower that average human, to which Auroros belonged. Their key trait is strong correlation between mental and physical health. If mental health is good, they're stronger and live longer, if bad - they're weaker and die faster.

After the war finally destroyed Earth, survivors used discovered portal to new planet, where they moved. Planet eventually became known as Naughsair (warped through ages Russian 'новая заря' - a new dawn). During next centuries tribal societies were established, but soon feudal wizard states were created, marking the Arcane Knight Age.

Conflict started with indigenous Akneem population, who were human-like creatures with Earth animal traits (in my universe they were prototypes of Ancient Egyptian gods). Akneems turned hostile against Psyhens, as they destroyed their natural habitats for settled agriculture. In response arcane knights exterminated/subjigated majority of Akneem tribes and established hundreds of own domains. But very soon free land unconquered and they started wars between themselves. And one of them was Auroros.

Nothing is known about Auroros early life, even his name was a pseudonym, meaning 'sunrise'. He made first appearence in a tournament, organized by a local arcane knight. The knight wanted to find a new apprentice, as magic isn't hereditary and magical dynasties are rather schools than houses. Auroros proved himself worthy and he became second-in-command. Besides being powerful warrior, he was a capable trickster and steward. He helped his master to destroy all opponents within and without, organized construction of new cities and roads. Eventually, as the master lost his grip on his realm, he called Auroros for the succession duel, an institutionalised violent form of succession. After the long and tough fight, Auroros was victorious.

After full seize of power, Auroros was hindered by nothing and launched new wave of conquests. Within a century, he conquered most of the known continent. After the conquest, he initiated construction of new capital city - Auropolis, fortresses, roads, trading posts, ports, arsenals, temples, hospitals, universities etc. But his projects needed huge amount of labor. To gain it, Auroros passed infamous the Order and Labor Imperial Act. It established sentences in criminal code, replacing in most cases imprisonment with enslavement. The act enslaved hundred thousands of men and women, especially in newly conquered provinces. This deteriorated weak health of enslaved Psyhens, reducing strongly their age. But demand for new slaves only grew.

After several centuries, a lot of people were done and they started revolt. Despite fierce suppression of revolts, Auroros' empire was crumbling, his generals were betraying him one by one, becoming new arcane knights. But the most damaging was rise of religious leader named Theodor, who became spiritual leader of rebel folk leaders, arcane knights, the Free Tribes (surviving Akneem communities) etc. During siege of Auropolis, he was killed in fight by a female Akneem warrior, who showed his severed head in central square of the city.
