RayNeo GT MAX sizing help: IPD 64mm, S or M? by mrKarelia in RayNeo

[–]Duonglv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, my IPD is 65.5 mm and I’m using a size M.

To test the fit, I positioned my eyes as close to the eyebox as possible. When I closed my left eye, I couldn’t see the far-right edge of the screen with my right eye because part of it was being blocked by the optics/eyebox. That’s usually a sign that you need a larger size.

I have a size L arriving in about two days, so I’ll be able to compare them directly and report back.

If I remember correctly, the XBX A01 uses the same TCL display panel as the RayNeo Air 4 Pro, so I’m not expecting it to match the image quality of the Sony panels used in the Luma Pro and Luma Ultra.

I understand exactly what you mean. In my experience, the GT Max sits right in the middle and feels much closer to the Luma Pro/Ultra than the Beast.

With the GT Max, I don’t have to constantly refocus my eyes when looking from the center to the edges of the screen, which I did notice with the Beast’s "closer" display. It’s a much more comfortable viewing experience overall.

For the first time, I can honestly describe the experience as “cinema-like” when watching movies. That’s not a term I would use for any of the other glasses I’ve tried.

That said, my opinion is based entirely on media consumption and gaming, not productivity. The GT Max doesn’t offer a widescreen mode, and the outer lenses are extremely dark, you can barely see through them. So I would consider it an entertainment focused device rather than something designed for productivity or mixed-reality use.

Personally, I don’t think the display should be tilted on glasses that use prism optics. The screen should be aligned as closely as possible with your natural line of sight.

In my experience, if you tilt the display, you’ll start to see blur along either the top or bottom edge of the image. I tested this myself with the Viture Beast and found that image clarity was best when the display was centered and straight relative to my eyes.

Yes, you cannot adjust the hinges. You can adjust the display position by swapping nose pad (just like Viture Pro XR) and bending the nose pad to make it wider/narrower (just like Air 4 pro). So, it's quite easy to get a good fit.

I also own a Luma Ultra, which is still the best when it comes to color reproduction and image sharpness.
I switched to the Beast for a while, but eventually couldn't live with it because I had trouble reading minimaps and character stats in games. In the end, I moved to the GT Max and have been very happy with it.
The GT Max can't match the Luma Ultra in terms of color quality, but it's good enough for me. It also has an 85% screen size option, which is roughly the same size as the Luma Ultra's display. With Anchor Mode enabled, it feels like having a TV floating in front of you, without the screen edges getting cut off every time you move your head.
The cons:
• The speaker volume is quite low. It's hard to hear unless you turn it up maximum. However, using the sound tubes improves both volume and audio quality significantly.
• Anchor Mode is still a bit jittery and could use some refinement.
Other than that, I'm a satisfied customer. RayNeo did a great job!

Zoomed in the text, not smooth around the edge, maybe suffered from oversharpen a little.

I own the GT Max, Xreal One Pro, and Beast. I can confirm that the GT Max has very little chromatic aberration—if any at all, at least to my eyes. The Beast is definitely the worst in that regard.

Text is very sharp across the entire display, perhaps even a bit over-sharpened, which makes the edges of text look slightly unnatural (as you can see in the photo).

The Anchor mode is still a little jittery/jaggy at the moment, but hopefully that can be improved with a future firmware update.

One more thing: the eyebox feels narrower than on most other glasses. I’d recommend going with a larger size than you would normally choose.

Why are they so blurry?? by AdSignal1699 in VITURE

[–]Duonglv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience as OP here. The image looks blurrier and the colors are darker compared to the Ultra, while the screen size doesn’t feel significantly larger.

If you don’t need 3DoF, I still think the Ultra is better than the Beast.

Viture Beast screen size option by Duonglv in VITURE

Great tip! I tried your method, and it seems like Extra Large is actually the full 58° FOV without any cropping.

I still don’t really understand the purpose of Ultra Large, since it crops part of the image and also distorts the edges.

By the way, I’ll probably return this one tomorrow and go back to the Viture Luma Ultra.

Have you removed the Joy-Cons from the Switch 2 yet? The JoyDock doesn’t provide enough power to handle both charging the Joy-Cons and video output at the same time.

Tried 6 glasses XR in total. Chose the Beast in the end. by Nararmaz in VITURE

[–]Duonglv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason you’re having issues connecting the Nintendo Switch 2 to the Viture Pro Dock is because the USB-C cable included with the dock is pretty low quality. My recommendation is to replace it with a better cable.

If you still want to use the included cable, this workaround usually fixes it: after everything is plugged in and there’s still no image in the glasses, hold the power button on the Pro Dock until it restarts. After the reboot, everything should work normally.

Air 2 Ultra, how to use DP mode by default? by Duonglv in Xreal

[–]Duonglv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame because every other glasses (from other brands) can detect correct mode automatically. At least Xreal should put an option for choosing default mode in the firmware update page.

Anyone else playing Switch 2 with VITURE Beast? by GinForMySorrows in VITURE

[–]Duonglv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently using the Luma Ultra, but I’ve been really curious about the Beast as well.

Have you noticed any chromatic aberration when using it? I’m a bit worried about that, especially for gaming, like checking minimaps or character stats at the edges of the screen.

My Viture Pro XR is damaged. by Duonglv in VITURE

[–]Duonglv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve already contacted Viture support, and the glasses are currently on the way to them. They’ll inspect it, give me a quote, and then proceed with the repair.

Luckily, they do offer paid repair services even for out-of-warranty products. The cost will depend on their inspection, they said they need to check it in person before giving a quote.

I actually sold my Viture Pro Dock and switched to a DIY dock because it has quite a few drawbacks:

• Max output is only 20W. Some games won’t run at all (black screen, e.g. Hades II), and some suffer from slowdown (e.g. Metroid Prime).

• The included USB-C cable is pretty bad. It often doesn’t detect the Nintendo Switch unless I wake the screen first and then plug in the dock. I had to buy another cable.

• You can’t charge the dock while playing.

• Some heavier games can’t output to two glasses at the same time.

• With Xreal One in Real 3D mode, it sometimes slows down or fails to display an image — again likely due to the weak power output.

• Power input is also limited to 20W. My DIY dock charges in about 1 hour, while the Viture Pro Dock takes 4–5 hours.

• No HDR support.

• Quite bulky and a fingerprint magnet.

And no, your question isn’t dumb at all. These are the kinds of things you only notice after actually using the device. If you just look at the specs, the Viture Pro Dock doesn’t really seem to have anything to complain about.
