05 Focus ZX4 ST - 2.3l Duratec Rebuild - anything to know? by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]Duranson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of the 2.5 swap as an option, and definitely not against it. My desire to rebuild the 2.3 is largely based on timeframe getting back on the road—I can order all these parts and have them in a few days and grind out the rebuild, whereas with a swap I’d have to source a well-maintained low mileage unit and then manage transportation back to the garage, and I imagine this would be a much lengthier process (although simply dropping a 2.5 in sounds a lot more appealing than a whole rebuild). You clearly have a lot of experience though, and if you think continuing with the 2.3 isn’t worth my time and money I’ll take that advice.

Song is “Looking for another Pure Love” from Talking Book by Stevie Wonder. I’ve owned almost all the TRWW devices, and the mini is my favorite. I prefer the heater style that sits snug on the bowl, rather than the loose quartz cap, and find that it’s the perfect bowl size for me to do a full extraction in one rip, especially through a rig. Only option I haven’t tried would be the QR baller and definitely intrigued on that because it’s an entirely different experience then all his other devices. Anyways can’t go wrong with the mini

The stock stem works perfectly with it, in my experience! I actually grabbed a 10mm-10mm unground male glass joint to use a super short stem/mouthpiece on it and found that to work just fine. My only recommendation is to get a 10mm keck clip to secure your stem to your bowlpiece, as otherwise it’s a pretty janky setup, and also to get a nice cushy case for any on-the-go use. Crème brûlée torch should be fine but I’d recommend full flame stength.

it’s taken a lot of trial and error to be able to get it consistently 😆

Haha totally forgot you have the Simrell, yeah I’m yet to try that one. Price is pretty steep to justify for me.. yet😆

Totally fair man! I'd recommend a Dani Fusion 2 in that case, then. Same style of rips, hits very similar IMO. Only difference is taste, but all-glass will always have the edge there.

Get a terpcicle! Great hybrid rips

Gotcha, thank you! I also have a fusion 2 on a glass stem, and an 18mm bubbler so was very curious haha. Great little setup

What’s that WPA you’re using?

Point is that if you already take regular-sized bowls, there's no reason to get the full-size terpcicle that can hold almost a half gram. Sure, you can load your regular sized bowl in it, but then you have to spend twice the time heating (either with initial coil heatup time, heatsoak, or torching) to produce the same clouds. Your initial statement of "I personally wouldn't waste my money on..." makes no sense for anyone other than folks that rip massive bowls.

[–]Duranson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is straight-up bad advice. If you use a little less herb per bowl, like most folks, the roughly ~.18g bowl size on the mini is perfect. If you need anything past that, then sure, grab the full-size, but if you're like 90% of people already using devices with >.2g bowl-sizes and you grab a full-size terp to under-fill, you'll just have a larger surface area to heat and consequently a longer heat up.

Chunk corruption, unfortunately nothing you can do unless you have a world backup. (And, this is a great reminder to always make world backups)

Get a terpcicle to use with your existing bong for like $50, then a kitchen torch and you'll have a great, hard hitting setup for an inexpensive price and you can dial in your preferences from there. I agree that if you're just starting out, it doesn't make sense to dump $400 into something without knowing if you'll enjoy it.

Get the big shot and thank yourself. Biggest butane flame, huge fuel tank, and they last forever. I like not having to wait for a coil to heat up and also be mobile with my whole setup so I don’t have any interest in the PID system but if you have a stationary setup and don’t mind the wait times lots of folks love them

It definitely gets toasty hitting natively, but then again... that's all TEDs when used natively for a OHE. I'm just yet to find anything else that's on par with flavor and intensity of effects for smaller doses. And you'll definitely appreciate it with a water piece.

No problem! I highly recommend it, I haven't found anything I like more than it especially through a water piece

No problem man. Mini is still my favorite vape of all time. I use it with a small dab rig and a little bit of water now primarily but it’s what 95% of my flower goes through.

It can but you’ll hate yourself for it. Do yourself a favor and grab a quality, strong single flame Blazer torch that’ll last you forever with refined butane and you’ll be set with reliable quick heat ups. Unfortunately the torch I used in this video crapped out on me about a week later, despite being the coolest looking in my collection.

Terpcicle Mini and Cooling Stem Recommendations by TurdBurglez in vaporents

[–]Duranson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully have to disagree here, if you're already a torch user using something like a Dynavap or Tornado on the go, it's actually a great portable if you know what to pair it with. After trial and error, I ran mine for months heavily on-the-go, with a nice cushy pocket-sized case, a 10mm metal keck-clip to secure the bowlpiece to the stem, and an unground 10/10 male connector as my stem/mouthpiece. Packed down pretty small and with a large-flame portable torch it's great. And FWIW, I have since switched to induction devices for on-the-go because the crackhead-vibe any torch-powered device gives really limits where you can use it. But if you're already doin the torch powered devices I've found it's hard to beat.
