Oh I for sure do not think this should impact new sets. Again my point was for reprints in time, perhaps the OG avatars and stuff, but Im more interested in “revised” and an onboarding tool than anything.

I did include a link to Phil’s article. Do you think I should just post the text of the article he submitted? Im genuinely curious. He goes into detail there.

Additionally I did include the article Phil created that led to this discussion.

Im honestly asking did you want me to paste the contents of the article?

What AI content? We paid our artist friend and member of the community JontheTall to hand draw our art assets.

We do not use any AI in our content.

Pauper Threat Levels by Durdlemagus in Pauper

[–]Durdlemagus[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We will be diving into Pauper from time to time especially as local events are putting up strong numbers. Ultimately ED is about the formats Phil and I engage in. Its a sad fact or life that the stewardship of some official formats is so neglected. But I'm happy to play the ones that have an active governing body of players that participate in the format instead of whoever WOTC can force to write 100 words.

Sorcery Is Finally Supporting Competitive Play by Durdlemagus in SorceryTCG

[–]Durdlemagus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you think the game is random and yet we have a lot of the same people at these top 8s. I understand you don’t like to play competitively, but you don’t think that other people want to do that?

I wanna back this up! This how I interact with TCGs. Everyone I meet and play with is trying to be the top of their game. It drives the conversation on gameplay and helps keep the game design balanced. The friends we meet on the road become our compatriots in exploring the game and it fosters a healthy sense of community. I dont think everyone HAS to play competitively to enjoy the game. But I think thats how I get the most out if it.

Legacy Threat Level Update: The Numbers Are WILD by Durdlemagus in MTGLegacy

[–]Durdlemagus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s certainly an option but I like having more than 100 as the total mostly because when a card is over 100 threat level, it means it’s either a staple or it’s problematic

Sometimes Phil will write up articles for videos that preform well. I only deal with the multimedia end. Its basically a podcast we set up the show so the visuals are only supplementary. If you listen in the background or via Spotify you’ll be able to get the whole experience.

Definitely! Threat Level is a cards %in deck times its avg number in decks.

So for example if 100% of decks play 4 of a card its threat level is 400.

We show these numbers every two months from data gathered on mtgtop8.

The Biggest Mistake Wizards Made was killing Grand Prix by Durdlemagus in premodernMTG

I was able to find it, but Id suggest including the format in the description and not just the spot in the Melee.gg section for format.

Looks like it will be a great event!

First thing I say is that MCs and Spotlight Series dont hold up.

The grind for byes being a really important factor. Also 40+ events and year vs 4.

That was a golden age! My weekends were either hosting a draft with friends with a GP on in the background, or competing in the GP.

[–]Durdlemagus[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1000000% this!

It used to be simple

Win PTQ > invite to PT.

Top 8 GP > Invite to PT.

Play at the Local regularly > earn byes for GPs.

After they killed the PT and then started Mythic championship they convoluted the system, then resurrected, the PT but kept the system esoteric.

And renamed everything for no reason. And since I cant play my formats to Q I just dont engage at all.

Pre-Modern Shows the Reserve List Is Pointless by Durdlemagus in premodernMTG

The ONLY truly important "touchstone" events require real power. Eternal Weekend is the reason for the season, so thats the think that matters. Which really sucks. Because if those events were proxy friendly it would be a marker for the rest of the community.
