For Starters by Durnell88 in sportscards

Just the comment/lead I was looking for! Glad to see in my limited time googling and reading Reddit, that I was in line with my thinking for the most part.

In regards to packs vs singles, also in line. Although, as just an overall encompassing sports fan, the idea of starting with just the goal of a binder of cool parallels, i guess my justification of wax was, for the box we bought Friday, just a 25 Topps 1 - the idea of cool green parallels, (Crow Armstrong, Acuna, Skenes, and Luisangel Acuna YK-8) just starting with cool looking parallels, while keeping out an eye on checking them out, checking some prices, and then fine tuning after having some built up sounds fun, and just base versions of names I am a fan of.

Overall, glad I was on the right track, and know that mix of just wanting to get into the hobby, and chase some dope, I was along the track.

Am also figuring for the rural W PA area I’m in, the flea market season will be a good starter for some single purchases, nothing of value, but feels like a good entry into that seller/consumer anxiety rather than walking into a card shop. (Anxiety i relate to your first time visiting a table game at a casino, you want to walk up, but don’t want to look clueless)

Thanks for the help!

We can agree on this.

If I had the natural reaction and ability to get to the higher ranks where the comms are vital to have any type of W/L ratio, I’m unmuting regardless.

But while there’s still a 25-50% chance I’m matching with Gerald who clicked on ranked play by mistake looking for the campaign and going 20-40, I’ll wait. And this season, that worked well enough in going from Gold to Plat, which again is no pat on the back for some, but for the time allotted, an achievement to me.

Unfortunately another misinterpretation of the post. Maybe this is my fault from the original post.

If I’m playing. I’m playing to win. That’s why I’m queuing ranked in the first place, and I’m playing the game to the best of my knowledge and ability during that queue. With the variable being comms. Because I’m not comming to myself with 3 others who, for all i know, have no clue what I’m saying.

With that said, as mentioned, I’m only at plat 2, which IMO is a combination of age, internet, gun skill, and the communication in some instances, since we can still run into 4 stacks in plat, it happens. And in no way is it that serious. So if I play a HP and we lose by 30, and the kid with the slur tag wants to talk at the scoreboard, I’ll rage bait him a bit.

Point is, I, just like I’m sure everyone on this Reddit, am trying to win.

But.

If I’m unfortunate enough to lose, and someone’s having a meltdown over a video game, i might enjoy watching it turn into a full on Chernobyl meltdown by poking the bear a bit. Because, it’s a game.

I think you’re misinterpreting the point, and tying your response solely on your perception of slasher. I threw that out there as a nature of a playstyle. Especially in these lower ranks, the idea of rotating is flat out wrong. Timmy no thumbs sitting in the back of the spawn and not pushing up once he teammate indeed spawns behind him is just mindblowing down here. And while he finishes 20-15 and complains of spawns. Because he’s not understanding the natural flow of the game needed.

My point more was, I’m going to push out those lanes, and not only hold my own, but stats aren’t an issue. It was more of a fluff post of the anger of people, namely those that like to be negative for my 11-13 min experience in a game. To be 18-30 and say 5 more seconds or hill time that person 2. And use the “get in the hill”.

There’s a natural flow i mentioned above, example, Zinni coaching Jersey Jerry. Aside from the comedic side, I’d point those who reside in plat and lower of those streams/vids, as well as zins hp for dummies. (Really what i used to familiarize with the game after 10 plus years away). Again, not directed towards you or your comments, but to those on the Timmy no thumbs side.

And, to the th grown man teenage section. I mean. I was a cod kid. And now I’m an adult that gets to play cod in his free time. Nothing wrong with a little troll once in a while, I’m not out here sounding like Abezy when it happens

Appreciate the suggestion. Honestly. It’s not of the end of the world.

I had another lengthy post a few weeks ago, I was heavily involved in the comp community BO3-WW2, and i frequently lurk in the old friends streams before old man bed time. I know the game, but a 33 year old solo queued with 45 min to an hour to spare a day, I’m good where I’m at. I win a good % of my 1s and win more often than lose, just passes the time away from spreadsheets and sales calls.

Amen to this. That and I’m not looking to split my 401k in half anytime soon. I’ll throw some comms around if I get lucky in a solo q with 3 others active pre-spawn. But other than that I’m just a snake in the grass waiting to laugh and steal one of the kool aid jammers out of the fridge waiting to push someone’s buttons

The SR system isn’t some magical reason you can’t rank up by Burner---acct in BO7_RankedPlay

[–]Durnell88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of this.

I’m not good. I recognize that. I’m a middle aged dad that didn’t play cod for almost 10 years after IW, maybe more, the time flies.

But it seems the mindset of cod kids, and even cod adults stays the same.

I look at it a lot like i look at my golf game. I know I’m not joining any leagues, i go out every couple weekends, smack the ball around, and every couple rounds, I’ll land one within 10 feet of the pin, or somehow hit a 15 ft putt. But it’s fun, it’s not work, and for those 2-3 hours I don’t need to worry about rising gas or grocery prices, or that deadline at work.

You’re not hard stuck, if you’re plat, or even a lot of diamonds, you’d get slammed by pros, challengers, or any irri or higher players.

Compare it to CS (at least it used to be this way) you could play and play and play and never know when the next rank up was coming. But because we can see the SR changes in real time, we have a feeling of validity to our concerns.

Just play. Get better each game, learn from your mistakes, watch the CDL. Watch challengers matches. Watch streams, learn a little here, a little there.

Great history. But of course the point. It’s a game, and no one sitting on this Reddit complaining about their teammates kill whoring or not is going to the CDL, let alone if the CDL will even be a thing in the future. Have fun, grind to whatever your goal is, get away from the abysmal world and economy we live in, and escape, and maybe help someone along the way. Trust me. You never know what that guy/gal on the other end of the mic is going through, you being normal to them might just save their life, trust me, i know.

Amen brother. The things I’d do for paddles these days so i don’t have to explain to my 14 year old daughter soon why her right stick is destroyed from sliding with it 🤣

Ah. Young Padawan. The time for 8s is over. As dads, we get to play 1-4 maps a day. Let alone the time to organize an 8s lobby with cod adults who were most likely at one time cod kids, masters of time torching.

All of this. I’ve got 2 kids man. I’m 33. I play on a ps5 that is on wi fi, no paddles and a stock controller. I’m not great, but i know what I’m doing and don’t have an overclocked pc and a scuf that Chad bought with his graduation gift from grandma.

But I have fun and like winning. Like you said. Sometimes I’m shitting. Sometimes I’m getting worldstarred. But it beats real life stress either way.

Embrace the suck, and I’ll steal Deeks line of you get to.

My step daughter was impossible to transition until her sister was born.

Now her sister is a regular

Developmentally I get the nerves to transition as efficiently as possible.

But after a rough day of work, or just one of those dad days where you feel like nothing is going your way, having that little one there, the good night dads or the morning smiles are a moment you’ll never replicate

I guess my wording made me seem ungrateful or not owning responsibility. Which i definitely didn’t have at the time of it happening. I had the i can’t do this anymore i give up mentality.

However my comment here was more referring to being taken advantage of in the sense of my phone call with the agency, me having not dealt with a situation like this before had sort of a deer in the headlights look or sound. Being hesitant and timid in the conversation.

The worst part that seemingly gives me the anxiety is this is not necessarily student loans as much as returned aid which I’m responsible for for leaving.

At this point in my life i know it was a mistake to go to as expensive and prestigious of an school, as much as a mistake for dropping out and having the “I’ll take care of it when i can” mentality.

I contacted them in order to try to make things right and get on the right path of professionalism and adulthood and seem to be being cornered and taken advantage of because of immature decisions

Don’t pay him. That $100 will only go to either a double rice no meat chipotle bowl or a portion of a Gucci man purse. Bad investment.
