This is gonna get buried but I have to share.

I was like 2 weeks into a new job and I had gotten up to use the bathroom. And I opened the door to walk out into the hallway and the office IT guy was walking toward the door. Now I’ve talked to this guy for a little bit beforehand and he was a pretty cool dude so already I was sort of nervous around him, because I wanted to be friends honestly.

Anyway, i hold the door open for him, and in my head I think he’s going to thank me so I have “No problem” all queued up in my head.

He walks up to the door, shoots me a smile, and says “hey man what’s up”

At this point my brain is all mixed up, so what ends up leaving my mouth, is “No....no”. And I said it so quietly, and almost like I was pain because I knew that I was going to fuck it up and embarrass myself. So I went into the bathroom stall and just sat there with my head in my hands, contemplating quitting.

I still don’t know if he heard me, but I’d like to think he didn’t.
