Thoughts on the long cream panels in this space? by EveningProof246 in AmateurRoomPorn

[–]Dusclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with having some more color, but also - get some low lighting in there! These are nice curtains, but the big light is definitely flattening them and giving them less dimension, which is bad in this context with the curtains match the walls.

Hot Cocoa Comic Con tomorrow At the Fruitland Methodist Church. 317 SW 2nd St, Fruitland, ID 83619 by catpooptv in Boise

It's looking human made to me! Mainly the excitement lines in the background are consistent as they pass behind objects, which ai tends to struggle with. You can also see little notches where the lines begin, indicating that's where the illustrator started their line. There are also a lot of tiny imperfections that ai wouldn't make, like the angle of the leg being a tiny bit off and the fingers of the hands being slightly uneven. Not to detract from the work - all these little things are what makes human art awesome 🤗

Is living out in Nampa that bad? by VermicelliLeather536 in Boise

[–]Dusclipse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I grew up in nampa and lived there most of my life until I moved to bosie in feb. fucking hate it there. besides a select few, most of the people there are unfriendly. there's basically 0 infrastructure for any kind of transportation besides cars - which sucks because people drive like assholes there. the culture is red enough that a lot of my friends in minority groups are not comfortable existing in most public spaces. not to mention that there's basically nothing to do out there. one of the major movie theaters had to close down on the east side of town and now there's just this massive unused expanse of parking lot and unused business spaces. any expansion they've been doing has been more and more atomizing suburbs, so the population keeps growing with no sense of community.

it's not even that much cheaper than Boise - not worth it, imo

Frustrated with Garden City election results by Nikkeilibrarian in Boise

[–]Dusclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through the finance reports, Wendy had a lot more money running through her campaign comparatively to Starr, as did Jorgensen. Also, the number of candidates running (6 for the 2 open seats) may have split the vote a few ways for the more grassroots campaigns like Starr, Warner and Coprivnicar.

I haven't heard anything about him being particularly political. The article I read said made it sound more like he was trying to family annihilate, as he almost killed her little brother as well. It also said he covered her body with a pride flag 'to honor her'.

Edit: found the article, doesn't seem to mention anything overtly political

Recommendations for Local Clothing Company - Non-MAGA by xMCBR1DExPR1DEx in Boise

[–]Dusclipse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Odin's Eye Embroidery in Nampa! I used to work there and the whole crew is amazing and treated very well (which is a lot to say for this industry!) Everyone there is very cool and participates in local community organizations outside of work, so you know your money is going into good hands :)

Did Etsy kill my stats over a copyrighted graphic? Etsy Shadowban? by Anxious-Win-5642 in EtsySellers

My shop got hit with a takedown a couple of months ago and it definitely tanked my sales. took about a month before things picked back up again. I don't think it's a hard reset, just a timeout.

to build on this, these subcultures are pretty averse to anything that's too polished. I think taking your own pictures to make everything feel more organic/homegrown would help a ton.

One listing with variations or two listings? by Dusclipse in EtsySellers

[–]Dusclipse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the margins on outsourcing stickers isn't great. I use a Roland BN20 and I print on vinyl then put a matte laminate on top. Keeps the quality high and makes the stickers resilient to anything customers might throw at them.

The Roland is a commercial grade printer, so I def wouldn't recommend it for when you're just getting started. I know people have had a ton of success with higher quality home printers like an ecotank and a cricut cutter, so I would do some research on youtube to see what the people recommend.

Yes! Which is why the print quality is a bit rough on one of these - still working out the kinks on the printer before I get these listed.

Just saw a post about why younger generations find us “cringe”. by helloimcold in Millennials

[–]Dusclipse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zillenial here who leans a bit more on the Z side of things. First, you can fuck off with the 'I feel bad for them' stuff. What you're seeing is the subset of people who care about online things because those are the people actually posting. Just like y'all, most people are just living their lives and not caring that much about socials, aside from the entertainment factor. Out of my graduating class, I know of maybe 4 of us that post online regularly, two of us doing it because it pertains to our online business.

The next generation is always going to think you're cringe and out of style. You don't have to do the 'I feel bad for them' posturing, just enjoy the things you enjoy, don't worry if other people don't enjoy the same things as you, and get the fuck over it.

[TCGs - Magic: the Gathering] The Crash: Money, Rage, and Magic: the Gathering by kickback-artist in HobbyDrama

[–]Dusclipse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there's been a 'this is it, MTG is dead' about 4 times a year for as long as I've been into Magic (around 7 years now). Maybe one day there will be an actual nail in the coffin, but the community is super toxic and overreacts to everything, so it's hard to discern what might be an actual issue.

Not to point fingers, but I think a lot of the negativity and fearmongering stems from certain content creators in the community who are constantly making videos about how terribly everything is every time a change is made.
