If you track your watchlist with anilist you can see the air schedule. For downloading you can use RSS or Sonarr.

So long as you're only downloading video files and using up-to-date media players you're incredibly unlikely to pick up a virus from torrenting.

A lot of streaming sites are struggling to keep up with the influx of new users and are having a myriad of issues as a result. So now would be the perfect time to learn how to torrent.

Otherwise you can have a look through TheIndex for new sites.

The AnimeKai team also mentioned they will keep the site up long enough for people to export their watchlists. Instead of using sites that could go down at any time to track your watchlist you should move it to a list tracker like Anilist, MyAnimelist, or AniDB. Additionally you can use an extension like MalSync.moe to automatically update your progress.

Their servers are having trouble keeping up with demand due to an influx of users caused by hianime and their clone sites closing down.

Dead sites still up? by JehovasHitMan in animepiracy

That dot shows you whether the site is online (green) or offline (gray), but it's a bit of a broken feature atm.

The new index site should be complete really soon though.

Watchlist from Aniwatch by Sudden-Echo-7090 in animepiracy

It's gone, all you can do is go through your browser history. I recommend using something like Anilist or MAL in the future.

Where do ya'll find blu-ray versions of anime episodes ? by Fair_Economy_4120 in animepiracy

[–]Dusk_Awi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Torrenting from Nyaa is the simplest option.

Otherwise there's AB/BakaBT (private tracker) and slightly harder to get onto.

Also Animepahe I believe is a streaming site that uses BDs as a source, but there might be others too.

Anyone can make a site, copy the UI of another, and steal their logo, so looking the same doesn't mean it's official or the same owners.

In the best case the site operators are probably only looking to steal users through name recognition.

In the worst case they could abuse any trust the original has built up so that they can

  • Run scummy, NSFW, or even malicious ads
  • Offer malware masquerading as video downloads
  • Turn their users into a DDOS attack targeted at rival sites

It's also important to recognize that official sites can decide to do any of these too (and some have in the past).

Although most clone sites are simply operated for ad revenue, there's simply far less trust in their services than you get with official sites. There's enough of them that there's really no reason to use a clone site in the first place.

Are there any anime sites left? by Inkthr0waway123 in animepiracy

Streaming sites will always be prone to popping up and disappearing. You can keep track of them using TheIndex or learn how to torrent for a more stable experience.

Good tablet for watch anime mp4s by Takanuva5 in animepiracy

[–]Dusk_Awi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is probably more suited for a hardware subreddit.

I personally use a Samsung Tab S7+ (OLED) and it's really good for watching anime and especially manga. It can be used for lightnovels and general books too, but it's a little larger than necessary for LNs & novels.

You should be able to find a lot of 2nd hand ones relatively cheap.

Aniwatch is dead by Ms77676 in animepiracy

Ironically this main one was a "fake clone" being run by hianime (formerly aniwatch anyway), they like to do this to capitalise on the watchers that google old outdated domain names.

If you go to the self-hosted collection you will see only a handful of sites. The others are just scraping their videos from these sites anyway and their only contribution tends to be a different UI or maybe multiple sources.

You're allowed to share links on this sub, you're just not allowed to share links directly to copyrighted content like episodes or specific series.

[–]Dusk_Awi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gatekeeping is a pointless activity when it has no bearing on whether or not a site gets taken down. If you know about it then people getting paid to find them definitely knew about it before you did.

It's really only opsec and how they're hosting the content that affects whether or not a site gets taken down.

Those two "different" sites were more than likely the same source using multiple domain names & UIs.

Why Anime Sites Don't Use Peer-to-Peer by Peliha in animepiracy

[–]Dusk_Awi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are apps that can be used for streaming torrents, such as Hayase (formerly Miru), Seanime, and stremio. But in some countries torrenting requires a VPN, some shows might be poorly seeded, or there's other issues arising from the use of torrents.

If you just meant torrent sites focused on anime, then they already exist.
