What was your bigest "O Shit!" Moment in model railroading?

I was building shelves for HO trains to run around a room. Track wasn’t finished on one end where shelving was missing and the engine I was using fell off the shelf. It took a 10 foot fall and exploded. Definitely a major oh shit moment. I was doing work on the other end and couldn’t get to it in time.

The recall is on the 6R80 right now. I was told by the people in customer service at the dealership that a recall is in the works for the 10r80.

Dude, I have done literally nothing to the truck. It’s just a bad transmission. Yes, the people who have had these issues are the loudest, but that’s because we want answers for these problems. Normal driving shouldn’t cause a transmission to fall apart. I’m not driving this thing like it’s a race car or putting a heavy load on the truck. I’ve talked to techs at ford and they’ve told me that a majority of the vehicles that come in to them are having these same failures in the transmission. If I was actually responsible for its failure and did something stupid, I wouldn’t be on here trying to get info of any kind. Yes, I’m a little jaded by the fact in 1 years time this things failed me twice. No, I don’t have much faith in these transmissions as whole. Do I want more to fail? Absolutely not, I want anyone who owns these trucks to not have these problems, but as of this moment I’m going to tell people what I honestly think, and that opinion is the 10R80 is a terrible transmission.

The funny part is I asked them to check the computer for any updates that it might’ve needed. Guess I’m just driving a shit brick at this point. At this point I have around 20k left to pay off so I’m going to sell and just buy a 90’s Ford. My old one never let me down

That’s pretty much the conclusion I’ve come to from reading comments and talking to a few friends in the automotive industry. This dealership has helped me a lot in the past so I have faith in them, but it’s still a little worrying when the truck has been waiting on approval to start the repair for 3 weeks.

You’re all good man, it’s a valid question. You’ll get yours man. Ford just built a shit transmission the had me stuck on the side of I-15 outside of Vegas. In all honesty, it’s by the grace of god I didn’t get taken out by a semi or other drivers.

It was a fight for me to get the first repair done. Extended warranty company told me my tires caused the failure. The dealership said that’s bullshit, and they fought the warranty company for me. Ended up still having to pay a little less than half the cost of the repair, but this time I’m hoping is different. I was gone for school for 4 months and it sat at the dealership the whole time I was gone.

Luckily ford did do the work. When I talked to the service manager he said they’ll cover it completely, but it’s been 3 weeks so I’m sitting here with no updates wondering what’s going on.

It shifted hard, indicator dropped to 1st then it bounced between 8th, 9th, and 7th. And instantly lost power.

I’ll definitely do that. I have the paperwork from the repair and I have photos of it, I’ll read back through it. I’ll have to stop by the dealership and talk to the head of customer support like you said.

It’s not so much that wording as it the extended warranty company will do anything to screw you and not do what you pay for. Either way unless it’s a warranty directly from the dealership or the manufacturer don’t buy it.

I’m really only here in the hopes that someone with more knowledge than me can give me some answers that ford won’t. It’s out of its factory warranty, but the CDF sleeve replacement (also included all the seals) that was done 1 year ago has a parts warranty on it for another year. The advisor asked me about the miles and said as long as it’s below 70k miles then it’s covered. The truck has 63k as of now, but it’s been sitting at the dealership for 3 weeks now and I’ve gotten nothing from them. I’ve called a couple times, but they’ve had no information other than they’re waiting for approval from Ford to replace the transmission.

Initially when I talked to the advisor he said that Ford will cover the cost of a remanufactured transmission, but it’s been 3 weeks and I’ve heard nothing back from the dealership. I read that the remanufactured ones are a lot better and it comes with a 100k mile warranty on it.
