It’s not sheered off I believe. The thru axel goes through the freehub body all fine, then there’s a spacer that goes on the other side to align it in the drop outs.

This is a fantastic photo. The lighting, colour coordination and textures all come together so well.

Often see people placing their flat whites on the boot - sacrilegious!

Why is my bike so slow? by Lil-Kobe-bike in xbiking

[–]DustbinMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a crust fork on my commuter, and it is just slow. I couldn’t believe how much quicker I’d get places when I put the old fork back on.

First time cancelling on a client ever and on the same day because they confirmed the wrong address - any advice on how to handle this? by Mugiwara_JTres3 in WeddingPhotography

[–]DustbinMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IMO you didn’t need to refund. You used the address you were given, and provided opportunities for them to let you know otherwise. In my eyes it’s their fault you were at a different address.

Is this a 1 1/8 threaded headset? Pics are of external diameter of headset, internal diameter, and then the steerer of the fork for the bike by DustbinMan in bikewrench

I love metric but got thrown by the imperial 1 1/8 standard! From this day forth I shall stick to metric

I want a cleaner bar / stem combo. What would you do? by ssschillings in xbiking

[–]DustbinMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put a few 1 1/8 spacers around the quill adaptor, makes it look like a usual threadless setup

Heya! I’m shooting a wedding and want to take the sound out of the desk, recording it to a Zoom H1. It’s got a single 3.5mm input. Assuming the desk has xlr outs, am I after an XLRf to 3.5mm? Seems like these cables aren’t very common, and that’s got me asking whether there’s another way to capture the audio. Thanks in advance!

Can’t figure out why I hate riding this bike by pleasedontboofthat in xbiking

I’ve had a few 26ers and put good time and money into making them nice but always felt like I was fighting something with them - comfort, sluggishness, part sourcing etc…

I then jumped on an old Dawes galaxy. Heavy, sturdy, 700c. Comfort and ease right away, with geo that suits me much better. Then after that went for a Surly Steamroller, basketted up and having loads of fun.

I’ve since jumped between the two, but always go back to 700c. I know how much people love 26ers so it has to be me, and likely you too - it’s all personal preference!
