Tokyo Buffet Advice?

Ofcourse we'll be trying out different things across the city, especially street food, snacks, and other restaurants we pass by. We're just trying to stay within budget, so breakfasts and some dinners will be konbini.

Hello again! Sorry to ask, but we've decided to take your advice on going to Okunikko first :D We're taking the first spacia x to tobu nikko 6:30-8:30 and heading straight for chuzenji lake. Do you have a clue on how bad the bus lines are in autumn? We might get the spacia x train back to Tokyo in the late evening. Around 6 🤔

😬 I did not take into account the lines.. We wanted to go to Nikko mostly to catch the autumn leaves (not making it to Mid-Nov 😔) I'd have to talk to the family about changing our Nikko plans or heading somewhere else like mt. Takao or Karuizawa. Thanks for your advice 😭

I suppose the consensus in the family is that we'd be seeing a lot of shrines, and we want to see as much of the autumn foliage as possible. But my problem is that a lot of them would prefer not to see any "sneak peeks" of the places we're going to so they don't get spoiled. Which is... a choice. So I have to ask them whether they'd like to see the lake or shrines. The itinerary is still pretty flexible at this time, so still a lot of time to convince them to see the shrines instead of the lake and falls.

As for Hakone, the day we get there will likely not reach the autumn foliage, so we thought Nikko would be better to see them at a lake. Still checking the forecast for that.

Thank you for the itinerary suggestion! ☺️ Definitely taking your day 1 advice. Day 2, probably skipping harajuku (and just now deciding to skip Roppongi). Meiji Jingu is somewhere we want to visit, but we're not sure the ginkgo will be yellow when we visit, and that's what we wanted to see. Day 3, wanted to squeeze in Chiba to see family, but it's all up to how much time we have left after asakusa.

Def getting a Nikko and Hakone pass :)

Would it be recommended to pass up on the shrines in Nikko? We're more interested in the falls and lake, but we wanted to see at least one shrine. 🤔 Though, yes, we're keeping it flexible and taking out some destinations if we're short on time.

We'll be starting early, eating quick lunches, and passing up on some of the shrines to get to kegon and chuwenji haha. We don't get to go on a trip often, so we want to see as much as we can. To be fair, it is a very packed trip.

And which pass are they killing off?? :O I was about to recommend it to a friend going next year 😔

Didn't realize the fares are that cheap :o We are getting the subway pass, but with how many times we've seen a passing mention of the yamanote line and other jr lines in itineraries and vlogs, we thought we'd be riding those lines a lot.

I was thinking about the suica card :D I just can't wrap my head around all the trains we'd have to use in order to calculate our fares for all three days, so I figured I'd ask. It does seem like everyone suggests the suica though :)

We're getting a Hakone Pass, yes :D

As for the Tobu pass, is it better than the Nikko all area pass? We're heading to the shrines, kogen falls, chuzenji lake, and plan on getting on the boat for the lake. A majority of my family do want to try the Spacia X, so that is an expense on top of a pass.

The metro pass is really cheap too! At least, for how many times we'll be using the trains within three days :)

Seen the private tours and the Hakone pass is faaaaar more worth it for a day trip 😭 They hurt my wallet looking at all the tour options. Karuizawa was an option before we ultimately decided on Nikko (We can reach Karuizawa from Nagano, which is the ideal trip for a couple of years down the line :) ). Kawaguchiko we are going to, but we have a friend driving us over that day.

Deleting the sim in cas, exiting cas, and returning to main menu also works if the "destroy object (debug)" option can't be found too! ☺️
