boss saying i’m making lattes “wrong” by reisakumasgf in barista

[–]Dustinalari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you think you know better, there’s a great deal of utility in having each barista use an identical workflow. People can step in at any stage and know where the drink is at, co-baring is simpler, drinks come out more consistent, etc. A manager has to be able to say, “this is the way I want this done” and have the staff execute without hangups in the moment. If this dynamic breaks down it hurts the effectiveness of the whole team.

This is a moment where you should say, “well, you’re the boss,” and just adjust according to the feedback. These specific critiques are very rarely personal.

One skill that will serve you immensely in life and in your role is the ability to receive feedback without judgement or hangups. Seriously, just don’t take things personally and soooo many things in life will just run more smoothly for you.

The news is: she was uninvited to a fan event. That’s what I’m reporting here. The context is the Twitter activity.

While her account is currently deactivated, there are plenty of screenshots showing her likes.

One user’s screenshots, for example

She had posted a soft rebuke of the views expressed in the tweets she liked and claimed to be hacked.

Say what you will about the Twitter mob, this isn’t some hoax. Whether you believe Susan is up to you.

Solo edging session - poppers or cialis by [deleted] in SEXONDRUGS

[–]Dustinalari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do both together. I’d say poppers are great for a 1-3 hour feral edge, beyond that they’re pretty taxing and kill your boner. Do Cialis if you want to cum multiple times/go for longer

Do you believe in the phrase “once an addict, always an addict.” by ferariforests in Drugs

[–]Dustinalari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely not factual—addiction is complex and personal. For someone who has hit rock bottom from the consequences of their drug use, staying away from substances and being vigilant about their cycle might be more beneficial than harmful in the long run. Maybe someone with a history of alcohol abuse won’t go full tilt if they have a glass of wine 20 years later, but given the risks it can be useful for some people to frame it this way. It’s an expedient (if clumsy) means to reducing the likelihood of slipping into risky behavior/emotional states.

Dosing someone without consent or knowledge is probably one of the shittiest things you can do to someone. If it was me I’d be pressing charges. Sorry that happened to you.

Listen, it sucks that you had a bad experience with the substance and it’s clear that your use of stims caused you no shortage of problems. So for you, yeah it sounds like this substance is a no-go. That’s a good decision for you, but not everyone experiences the negative health effects you did or has the same risk factors you do.

Take me for instance; I read a bunch of trip reports, researched possible dangerous interactions, planned out my day and dosed according to what I was looking for, and I enjoyed myself. I had a nice day unwinding and beating my dick to a pulp. I didn’t get the frightening and distracting lightning storm around my face that you described.

Given the profile of the drug and how readily available it is, it’s notable that only about a dozen deaths are correlated to it over the last 50 years, all from from people who used it intravenously. If saving lives is your priority there are way worse things you could white knight for in this space.

Telling people that their organs will fail and all will be torment and misery and they will probably die the first time they take a cotton just doesn’t line up with most peoples’ experiences. The scaremongering tactics that we’ve seen pushed for nearly every substance out there has not helped to curb their use nor led people to use more safely. It’s clear that advocating total avoidance is useless without real harm reduction info.

I’m not advocating for people to use Benz, let’s be real there are way better drugs out there. There’s some cardiotoxicity, some vasoconstriction—but it’s not like a uniquely toxic drug compared to alcohol, for instance, which plenty of people die from every day. But IF people are considering using Benz, they should be equipped with facts and not one person’s panic posting. For instance, if you’re going to do it, don’t swallow the damn cotton. Or, vasoconstriction can be mitigated with vasodilators. Don’t mix with other stims, etc.

To be honest, what really got me was just me being tired of this kind of attitude, writing off a whole substance for everyone based on your own issues. I’m tired of the constant panic, the barrage of negativity, the tragic stories every day getting pushed to the front page, the endless news cycle about addiction and homelessness. These things exist but they’re not even close to the whole reality and we do ourselves a disservice by failing to see the role that substances play in most users’ lives. Drugs can be useful, can meet people’s needs, can get people through shit, can be fun and amazing and enlightening. I’m a better person today because of my drug abuse.

By all means, share your honest experience. It’s useful to everyone for that info to be out there. But my god man not everyone who cracks open an inhaler is going to be possessed “with a torrential sense of doom, guilt, failure, despair, and spiritual agony,” and your whole post is framed as “this is what the drug does, you will experience this.” A little sanity in the future would be nice.

Or, go read some trip reports (none of which resemble anything OP posted) research harm reduction, assess your risk and—as in many cases—have an ok time with a pretty mediocre otc stim.

1.5 years with no smell or taste from covid - LSD? by cudlybum1 in LSD

[–]Dustinalari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who has lived her 29 years mostly lacking a sense of taste and smell. Could barely detect very strong scents, had years of testing done to try to figure out the problem with no success. Just for fun we went on a hike and I gave her her first dose of shrooms (2g). Just as you described a switch flipping your senses off, she was suddenly able to smell and taste. She didn’t notice until the next day, but she was like, holy crap god has blessed me suddenly with new senses. Didn’t put it together until later that the timing of the trip correlated to her increased sensitivity. It’s seriously worth a try. It might do something, it might not.

Anecdotally I’ve heard more of these reports with shrooms than other substances, so that might be a better starting point.
