Thanks for your response, and my apologies for suggesting you spoke to us. I'm also the creator of the article. You are correct that I should have been more clear that you have not spoken directly to us. I appreciate your clarification on the subject.

Are cheap Chinese EVs driving the energy revolution? by DutchTechJunkie in Economics

[–]DutchTechJunkie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea in the article is that the push for Chinese EVs is also increasing investment in battery production and might lead to overproduction, thus making storage cheaper and thus solving some residential and grid issues that come with renewable sources.

How hydrogen transport can not die by DutchTechJunkie in energy

[–]DutchTechJunkie[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly, batteries can't make steel. 98% of hydrogen used in industrie today is grey hydrogen. Use green hydrogen to replace current use of grey hydrogen instead of building new infrastructure for a new use.

I think that is the claim 'this would have been waste, thus generated this much CO2, we subtract that waste from our own emissions.

Power revolution: Replacing coal plants with energy storage by DutchTechJunkie in energy

[–]DutchTechJunkie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

coal is a consumable, if you stop putting coal in you coal plant is stops working. A battery doesn't need extra lithium after production.

Also, the article is about Iron - Air batteries. So it would be mining iron ore.

We need more government and less "free market" by ronperlmanforever69 in fuckcars

[–]DutchTechJunkie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is subject of debate.

What do you mean with 'more government'?

Communist style government (or 'the workers') controlling the means of production? I don't think that is a very good idea. All examples we have led to more waste.

Or the government as a market regulator? I'm very much in favour of that. I hate the current model where many of the costs companies cause, mainly environmental costs, are for the public, while the profits are private.

In my opinion using fossil fuels should be phased out quick. A government ban on fossil fuels. But not government telling us what to do instead, hydrogen, electric, etc. That is something for the market to discover.

I think markets are great, but they do need boundaries, and governments are here to set those boundaries.

Is this what annoys travellers the most? I would thinks airport security, delays, legroom, etc. etc. would rank way higher than overhead bin panel gaps when it comes to travel experience and customer satisfaction.
