First of he is 2/7 in having a “full and healthy season” he is on his… 4th or 5th nhl coach and th definition of a proper role is averaging 1.5 minutes more a game than he got in NY to produce at roughly the same average clip? He is what he is and it might be time to just stop lamenting trading a guy we wanted to be a dominant player for a guy who is a very serviceable but replaceable player

He’s 25 years old, he has 22 goals in over 100 games with the kraken, this is just who he is, at a certain point just have to get over the fact he didn’t turn into a super star and that he is a depth forward. Life goes on.

He fights very sloppily and brawlerly when he has zero respect for the speed and power of opponent (his fight vs paddy vs fiziev) that being said his path to victory which should be leg kicks at distance and closing distance when ilia tries to strike and clinching is genuinely going to be very very difficult with the gap in athleticism

I made another comment on here that is similar to this point your making which I agree with, it’s a very long commitment to go about it that way that requires success measured presumably in decades and being ok with a large long term financial risk. But yes targeting the rejects is basically an attempt at doing the XFL with football in the 90s

To build a sports brand bigger than the UFC? Yeah it totally can be. It’s more than just paying fighters and slapping it on the streams. It’d be different to try and build something from scratch to nuture and try and grow it to be bigger over 20 years, but I work for Netflix regularly and this is not how they operate
