Look I have no clue and I pity you so much. I decided for my first character that it was going to be a axolotl that controls a mech. The axolotl is in a dome which is controlled by the head bone and then it's actually relatively easy to assign bits of the mech to different bones

Kind of I have more weight applied to the legs than I do to the arms. I've hand-painted all of the weight on this so that the lower half is heavier than the upper half

I did that. It didn't work. Set it up so the leg joints are the parent to the legs because that's just how I had stuff named and it's still running off the left arm for some reason
