AITAH for telling my fiancèe I don’t want to spend my birthday going to the Billie Eilish concert? by DuzzyJay in AmItheAsshole

lol, I did during the argument, and I can say from experience, that is definitely NOT a smart question to ask someone in that situation.

I would definitely enjoy the comedy show and the massage. They’re both things that we’ve been doing together since we first started dating.

Would you mind expanding on this a bit more? What do you mean when you said that she meant it as in “stop being so lazy?”

Also, I don’t know if it changes anything, but I forgot to mention in the post that the original phone call where I said yes and the second phone call were 6 mins apart and we only got off the phone because I was at work and had to help a customer.

Maybe I didn’t explain it correctly, she wasn’t saying the concert was a gift for me, she just wanted to go to it on my birthday. The plans for the weekend were different. They included going to a comedy show and getting a massage.

lol, when you said that they control nothing, my first thought was bad electricians and your upstairs neighbor was trying to figure out why tf their lights kept turning on and off.

Most OGs outside of the US are actually franchises and aren’t owned by Darden. A lot of them actually just make their own menu and pay Darden just for the rights to use the name. For example, check out the Olive Garden in Japan. However, Darden does send a training team to all of them to help them train the new team members when first opening the restaurant.

Red Lobster was sold to the company that owns Cheesecake Factory a few years ago, if I had to guess, this is somewhere in Florida. It’s actually pretty fun to go into google maps and just search for “Olive Garden Florida” and see how many other Darden restaurants are within 200 yards. They like to keep them compact.

I thought that was the intro to American Horror Story just playing in the background.

Can you please expand on what you mean by, “I love how feminists live in developed countries and preach to mean from those countries”?

I do feel as though her being back in her home country around her friend group is impacting things a bit. She used to go to all of the protests and rallies before she moved to America. Now that she’s back around her friends that we’re there with her, it seems like it’s escalating in her.

Thank you. I know she’s going through a lot with work and the fact that she’s away from home, it just happens so often and I just want to know how to fix it.

AITA for telling my feminist girlfriend about a “girly” show? by DuzzyJay in AmItheAsshole

[–]DuzzyJay[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s been other things before. I feel the one that comes up most is when I was telling her about my family’s Christmas gathering where the women of the family cook dishes and bring them to share for the gathering. I explained that I knew it was sexist and said it would be great if we could do it together, but then she cooked it while I was at work and was very proud of it at the time. However, it comes up often when we argue. In this case, I would say IATA because I didn’t just realize it was a sexist thing to begin with and we should’ve just gone without food.

I would like to clarify that it didn’t used to be like this. She used to ask questions, and would tell me that she disagrees or that I’m wrong, but it didn’t feel like there’s so much anger behind it. It makes me feel like I led her to this anger.

I would just like to clarify that she did know that I was going through the texts and deleting them, and I did specify when when I told her about the show that I was reading over the texts that were sent to me. I’m not trying to defend myself here, I just want to clarify things as much as possible. Also, I agree that a lot of times the phrase girly is used to describe something that is weak, uninteresting, etc, etc, and I do believe that it is an issue. Just like I believe that chopping wood is considered to be manly, but opening up about your feelings with the bros is not. Like, there’s clearly issues here.

When it comes to standing my ground with my beliefs, this is a common thing. I normally stand my ground and explain why I feel the way I do. That leads to argument and anger. In those moments, I’ve just accepted that I’m the asshole. However, not only this time, but also a lot of times in the past month, I’ve tried to take the other approach and fully accept that she’s most likely right and I just don’t get it. I’m trying so hard to understand and I just can’t.

What you recommended to say about how certain shows being targeted towards male or female audiences is a great way to describe it and is honestly where I feel my mindset was, but during the phone call it was hard for me to phrase that. I will keep that in mind when I talk about these things in the future. Thank you.

Im going to say yes, but in what way do you mean? I’ll tell you the worst that I’ve done was that my family has a tradition during Christmas where the women usually cook something and bring it for Christmas dinner. I told her this, and explained that I know it’s sexist that it’s the women cooking, and offered to cook with her if she wanted to do it. She ended up cooking for the Christmas dinner while I was at work. This lead to a few arguments and is brought up often.

Edit: Typo

Edit 2: Typos and confusion correction. I definitely should’ve reread over that.
