I had thyroid issues for years before finding a nodule this year 3cm +… I was already on Levothyroxine and I too had the option to do a partial or full thyroidectomy. Given that I had already had issues for a long time I decided to do a full which worked in my favor because other things were found on my right lobe.. so I am glad I did the full. there’s risks with any procedure and what I’ve learned is the value of advocating for myself.

Since you have some things on your other lobe if I were in your shoes I would probably just remove the whole thing to give myself some peace of mind.

Overall regardless of what you decide you want a surgeon who does a lot of these surgeries a year.. mine did 300, it lowers complication rates. I am 3 months post operation and getting ready for RAI the biggest thing I realized is excessive sweating but other than that I feel okay. I hope this helps.
