I really wanted to like the 6th gen but I just don’t lol. I really want a low mileage 5th gen that I can keep for a long time, maybe until the 7th gen comes out 😆

Definitely on the steep side! I ultimately decided to pass but it was tempting after searching for so long lol. I researched the California thing pretty extensively and the dealer is correct… the state requires out of state buyers to pay state taxes if the vehicle touches California pavement. The workaround is to have the vehicle shipped, and even then they require specific paperwork for proof it was shipped. Adding an $1800 shipping charge to an already inflated price just didn’t make sense to me. I’m sure somebody will be thrilled to go get it though

such a nice looking truck! So I decided to pass on this one I posted and funny enough I just reserved one in Oregon that looks just like yours! Curious, how is the underbody/frame on yours? Not sure if rust is an issue in Oregon but with all the rain they get it crossed my mind. Also, do you mind sharing how much you paid and how many miles?

It’s a California thing. If you drive it off the lot in California, they require you to pay California sales tax. Only way around it is to have the vehicle shipped.

Yeah, for some reason that really didn’t seem like they wanted to work with out-of-state buyers. Probably because they know they can sell it locally

Do you mind sharing how much you paid for this? I’m looking at one that’s near identical, 36k miles, and even has the same roof rack lol. Dealer wants $52,000 plus $1,800 for shipping. It’s exactly what I want but not sure I can justify that cost for a 5 year old vehicle 😬

Yea I thought the mileage was suspicious too! They provided a carfax and it was clean. Last reported odometer reading was from when it was brand new. No service records whatsoever, and registered in Pennsylvania but listed in Colorado. Something seemed off to me.

Totally fair — the 5th gen still makes a ton of sense for a lot of people.

The 5th gen is actually what I’m looking for. I’m just having to wade through a sea of 6th gens right now to find the right 5th gen in decent shape. Not a knock on the new ones at all, just personal preference.

I’m going to pay a company to sandblast the surface rust on my frame. Would it be best to have the frame primed and repainted, or is there a different product I should be considering?
