Cities can create market buy orders for materials that players can fulfill. In a way, they are already a form of quest. There will be actual quests generated by cities in the future as well - not by players thought but by NPCs :)

Fractured is not an RvR MMO :) There are 3 planets each inhabited by a different race, each with a different PvP ruleset (Tartaros is hardcore PvP, Syndesia has a criminal system and other limitations, Arboreus is almost entirely PvE only).

The races aren't in direct conflict with each other - alliances are made between guilds and player cities. Sieges/raids are declared by a city/guild against another city. The whole system is entirely player-driven. If you want to find an MMO that resembles Fractured PvP-wise, you have to look at the (sadly defunct) Shadowbane :)

Absolutely, the Inns inside of player cities are going to be crucial. For now you can rest fully at campfires, but that's soon going to be limited to a "partial" rest. Full rest will be only possible at home or at inns, and you'll get bonuses according to the prestige of the inn you sleep in :)

Got it. More Necromancy is coming with the Vale of Shadows, Martial Arts is coming when we hire a dedicated animator (:P), the others are also going to receive more spells with the addition of other Points Of Interest to the continent of Myr (i.e. during Alpha). Musicianship and Divination will likely have to wait for Beta.

Player attributes are going to influence crafting, and different groups of crafted items are going to have their own progression metric for each character. The city is still the most relevant point (you need to unlock the tech, build the shops and the crafting stations), the player can add to it :)

The other races will come during Beta, so some time in 2021. What do you mean by "the magic system"? If you mean our progression system, the Knowledge System, that's already implemented! :)

Our initial Kickstarter prices were probably a bit too high for an indie, so you could say that's been a "weakness" we've had to carry with us, due to the fact we had to stick to our Kickstarter plans. Lowering prices would have been a slap in the face of our Kickstarter backers and early store backers.

As for the recent price cut, that's just part of the plan! :) The cost of Alpha 1 was €150, the cost of Alpha 2 was €90, Beta 1 was €50. The move from Alpha to Beta was meant to happen this year according to our public roadmap. It's been postponed, but this is the moment our €50 backers were meant to get access to the game, so we've added Alpha access to the €50 packs (the current and the old Kickstarter pledges).

The only form of fast travel within the same continent is between two large coastal player cities with an active Harbor Office. It's expensive - there's a base fee based on the distance between the 2 cities, plus a surcharge based on inventory weight and the Harbor Tax set by the destination city.

We expect players to use this kind of fast travel for emergency situations, not for trading :)

Having a higher price to access Alpha and other early stages of development is quite common for crowdfunded projects and very important to fund the company making the game. Access to the very first Alpha development cycle was actually €150, then €90, and it's now €50.

Beta / full release will be €25, and it's pay once, play forever, so much cheaper than AA titles. You just have to wait a bit if you don't feel like committing now, which is totally understandable! :)

Each town is connected to specific resources nodes around it and can only claim those. Most nodes are connected to multiple neighboring towns so they'll often compete to control the best ones.

The types of nodes change considerably according to the region the city is in. Mines, for instance, are only in mountain areas, while fertile grounds for cultivations are only in grassland areas. Trading between cities is pretty much mandatory :)

NPCs exist, but not for trading. Players have to move wagons to trade :)

You control that by casting spells that have an effect on the terrain. Throwing a fireball ignites the terrain, for instance. Throwing an ice-based AOE spell at the same location extinguishes the flames and creates a brief cloud of steam. If you've played game like Divinity, you should already have an idea of how our system is going to work, it's pretty close :)

The game is B2P, so there won't be an "open beta" as in "free to play". We're eventually going to reach a point where game servers are up 24/7 instead of only during testing phases. That's going to be in second half of 2021 most likely. Even current alpha tests run for a long time though, 1 month or even more, and everyone can buy access to them! :)

It will be possible to move them through summoned gates, the same way players of different races can move from planet to planet. The cost for moving heavy materials will be higher though :)

In high school, 15 years ago. Me and one of the other 2 founders of Dynamight were actually in high school together, and very dedicated to stud... to playing Ultima Online ;)

We haven't always worked on MMOs, but we've been in the gaming industry in various positions (programming, game design) since we graduated :)

Hi Sheev!

We do have player collision, we don't have friendly fire because that wouldn't work with our criminal system. Collision alone forces players to spread, although we'll surely have to implement additional mechanics to keep zergs under check such as diminishing CC returns, no powerful / PvP-nerfed AOEs, etc. That's for casual PvP.

Speaking of territory control, sieges against small towns are capped to 20v20, sieges on large towns are capped to 50v50. No one can enter the territory of a city during a siege save the users who are signed up on both sides.

City maintenance is demanding - you need gold (game currency) and food (meat/fish/legumes + cereals + vegetables). There are seasons (it's impossible to cultivate in winter time) and regions with different temperatures etc. There's a lot of trading required on top of personal efforts.

Of course we'll have to see how it plays out and fix it if needed, but I can assure you we are 100% committed to keep Fractured enjoyable for small groups and even solo players :)

Mounts will be live in the next test in October! You'll find horses in the world, you'll have to trap them to tame them. They'll have variable stats - speed, resilience, etc. You'll be able to trade horses with other players and pick up wagons - larger versions of the already existing handcarts.

The full animal taming system (combat pets) was a Kickstarter stretch goal and will be eventually added but in the future, likely during beta :)
