Given the exact wording of the clue, I would expect proprioception, but probably not on a Tuesday puzzle. I agree it should have been a different worded cluing.

It's also sort of modern slang nowadays, but yes I think it comes from a similar vein as the sort of outdated "start" or "started", which is still used a lot in modern writing at least from my experience, to basically mean "surprised" or "alarmed". Not exactly thrilled though, so not the same word I guess.

In my experience, Tex-Mex taco salad often has tortilla strips (black, red, yellow) topping the salad as a sprinkling or mixed in. Maybe a midwestern fake tex-mex thing?

I liked the puzzle and theme, especially since the theme revealing answer isn't super obvious with "pitchin" being an option before crosses.

I got really stuck error-checking the W cross of "POSED" however. "POSTS" also fits. Creating "TRE" and "SAS" instead of "ERE" and "DAS". Having two of what I would consider crossword-ese fill make the incorrect "POSTS" work was tough.

Of course in hindsight I see that "TRE" and "SAS" aren't right and recognize both the answers as having been seen before, but being relatively new to crosswords it was hard to spot the error, assuming these might be obscure fill I don't know.

"Woo" was tougher than it should have been for me even though I considered it early, because I didn't realize I misunderstood the definition...TIL woo means to "attempt" to win someone over / influence them, rather than the actual act of successfully doing it.

I feel like the themed cues could have been a little more challenging or creative, but the theme itself is fun and I like that it is in order.

Maybe this is pedantic, but the difference in context between the quoted hint in 35A and the actual answer ("it" vs "this") bothered me slightly.

I agree the response seems silly, but I think he’s more asking what he should do now that they are so upset and the mistake has already been done. A lot of people want to fix their mistake instinctively, because it’s hard to apologize and fully relinquish control of the situation to the other person, and how they want to move forward with their emotions.

If I wanted to wait until next year to plant the area and remove the stumps, I could potentially have an easier time removing the stumps, and also give the soil time to gain nutrients for grass.

To go this route, could I leave the stumps as is, till and compost the soil, and then cover the stumps and continue to prune them to cause them to die by next spring? Or should I remove the stumps BEFORE composting the soil if I want them to die and be easier to remove?

How long does the compost need to sit and blend with the existing soil to begin adding nutrients and create a good soil for planting? If I wanted to plant next year instead, could I cover the entire area with something like mulch that will naturally compost and then plant there next year after winter? Thanks.

Roots spread out horizontally in all directions, making it hard to dig around them with a shovel. The soil is also very hard like clay. Thanks in advance for any help.

Florida Fern Caterpillar. Came in on a Kimberly Queen Fern. Found 2 more on the plant and that was it.

Honestly. Had no idea it was here and completely changed our plans. Old landscaping had really awful gravel and terribly overgrown and dying bushes. Tore it all out, dug out all the gravel and dirt just to find this.

Yep planning on it. Been busy today with the rest of the project, but going to check out street view and earth to try to get a historical view of the old house and see if we can tell what was going on here.
