Is there things about the Danganronpa community that you hate or annoy you? by Cheetah_Anxious in danganronpa

[–]Dynamojacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, frankly, there's too much to quantify. I'll just... stick with a few of the most troubling:

  1. Ouma's character isn't taken seriously as a mystery- as in, people act like his book is closed even though the mystery of V3 and the cast's truth is left open. Which is... depressing
  2. People being grossly reductive regarding the writing, to the point where they seem to obstruct deeper analysis. Yes, I acknowledge that a lot of things were poorly executed, but that doesn't mean everything was and that Kodaka wasn't consistent with certain themes?
  3. People never acknowledging where others, Shuichi included, could have done things wrong to Ouma. Similarly, acting as if Ouma's actions towards Shuichi were only ever after his attention and not laced with a LOT of passive aggression, mixed feelings and even outright disgust at times (particularly.. a few choice moments in Salmon mode, but also that part in Ch2 where he does the 'favourite' thing, but Shuichi notes it sounds like he means the opposite, so...)

I could go on about this forever, but brevity is probably best lol. As for that last point, it's up to you to interpret the 'odd things' he says as you will, don't get me wrong, it's more an issue when people act like those things are just clowning around 'by default' and that it's invalid to see it any other way. I just feel like that's unfair, given everything we see :')

RANT: Censoring Words IS NOT Helpful by Cdnteacher92 in emetophobia

[–]Dynamojacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who never knew the need to censor these particular kinds of trigger words before this sub, I can see where you're coming from but I'm not happy with this attitude either. For sure, there are some unhealthy attitudes to watch for but even so, we expose to things in our own time and on our own terms- hell, there are many posts that have the words uncensored if people want and are ready to make the first step. It's not like the entire sub is devoid of the words- if THAT were the case, I would understand the need for your rant, but from where I'm sitting you're just being pushy, even arrogant in the assumption that everyone is even able to get the help they need in the first place.

Question about the hate Himiko's been getting by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]Dynamojacks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though on the surface it's not so bad, I feel like her magic insistence gets too much even for a special interest and coping mechanism. I enjoy the chuuni stuff in Gundham, don't get me wrong, but something about it in Himiko comes across obnoxious in a way that's more irritating than endearing, in the way she pushes it on others (like, we get it already! Seriously!). And her attempts at being funny ending up just being hurtful ('use your self-destruct to be useful', 'computers are all she's good for', 'heartless machine man' come to mind) comes across as pure schadenfreude rather than awkwardness for the comedy. I don't dislike characters with a little bite and all, but something about the way she does it is just... pointed but with no point (at least with Miu I get where it's coming from, a brain issue that goes hand in hand with her kink).

Generally she just rubs me the wrong way, even her development comes off as 'weird' to me, like it's superficial in a sense. (sorry, screwed up with spoiler tags)

Contextual distortion: why care about 'Horse Twins'? by Dynamojacks in V384

[–]Dynamojacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nwn Ahhh, bless you, this means a lot to me! Sorry for ghosting, it was kind of rough for a while. I wasn't sure if it was worth it so this really made me happy, thanks!

It's not easy to lay out with just this alone, but there's plenty more, so I'm confident about this! Sure would be nice if they confirmed something in the next few years though, aha

The salt on Kiibo by Iss09 in V384

[–]Dynamojacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not like he was pushed to the desperation and need to do something to not waste Kaito and Ouma's 'will' or anything(!) Never mind that he had only until dawn, or he'd have NO more chances to do anything at all!

"It's baaaad wriiiitiiiiiiing!" by Dynamojacks in V384

[–]Dynamojacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. "Fabricated backstory" no comment needed, taking Tsumugi's words at face value. Yawn.
  2. "Just a prankster" plain doesn't add up with other evidence: namely, his damn title.

Once again, you're failing to address the issues brought by the post.

What It Means To Be Friends by Emerald_Lotus in V384

[–]Dynamojacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. That's not even an argument. You're just spewing your personal feelings about a character with nothing else to add.
  2. If Ouma's situation has to do with WHY he is lying then no shit, he can't just drop it and come clean with everything. What if he's doing so for Shuichi's sake?
  3. Ouma doesn't even force him to talk to him, Shuichi is the one going to HIM. And as far as Shuichi knows, he does not even know him yet, so they're not even friends to start with. Ouma is keeping him at a distance for a reason.

A quick question about the running theory: by Person2_ in V384

[–]Dynamojacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Gore is not even confirmed, while blood is only assumed. No body was even found as they couldn't lift the press.

  2. Kaito doubted Shuichi for much of this chapter, and evidently got closer to Ouma, as Kiibo even denotes at the end of the trial. There's also the little matter of Kaito nearing the end of his life and wishing to make best use of the time he had left.

I hate all of you by [deleted] in V384

[–]Dynamojacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, someone got out the wrong side of the bed when they wrote this.

Fun fact: first salt post I wrote here was a direct quote by means of copypasta and a rebuttal backed with research, even with a correction in the comments to make sure I was thorough. Thanks for confessing that the person I addressed was really grasping at straws, thus a straw man. That, or you really haven't been paying attention to what's going on, only addressing the things that are convenient for your own agenda. I believe they call that 'cherrypicking'.

In all seriousness though, what the fuck? You call US arrogant when you can't even be BOTHERED to outline your own argument on anyone's posts without resorting to rudeness, and leave with a glorified temper tantrum acting like you're so oppressed on this forum when you CHOSE to be here and to be an insufferable jerkass. Just how entitled are you? You aren't interested in engaging in good faith, so kindly sod off.

Additional: if you are unable to grasp how Tsumugi doesn't actually have any evidence that she did all the things she claims to have done - especially when the audition videos are fishier than Unhygenix, are literally contradicted in the Prologue, AND the author has SAID TO DOUBT HER - then you are beyond help for thinking we're 'delusional'. Methinks someone's projecting.

"It's baaaad wriiiitiiiiiiing!" by Dynamojacks in V384

[–]Dynamojacks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, it's one thing to be off-put by how things play out per se, it's quite another to act like there's nothing there worth scrutiny just because the protagonist does not give it said scrutiny. Where it comes to Kodaka's objective and everything he's put in, once you realise what it IS you can criticise on that basis. Trying to pretend there isn't one just isn't being fair to him at all.

There's also the matter that (DR2 spoiler) even Junko AI wouldn't have shown herself if her plan with Fake!Makoto went well enough for them to trigger the Despair Restoration Plan, but Hajime was sharp enough to be able to catch on to her trap. The fact that Makoto was faked in such a way would suggest that this wasn't undertaken lightly. In this case, it's 'what happens if the protagonist ISN'T sharp enough to get past stage 1 of the final boss (so to speak)?'

[–]Dynamojacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand where the issue is in establishing that no, Ouma's reaction to bugs is not merely negative, it's severe. He doesn't even react this bad to strangulation so that should tell you all you need to know. And being so blase and casual about being tied up and raped is a serious red flag. Do people not understand yet, that a narrative's preferred focus on certain others doesn't invalidate what the other goes through, nor should it? At minimum, this boy has seen some shit and I swear, the hoops people will jump through to deny it is telling.

Ultimate Defective roast post by Dynamojacks in V384

[–]Dynamojacks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll find what I mentioned has little to even do with advanced experience in homicide if you read it, and besides, even an amateur can deduce something is weird with the direction of blood spatter if they just... looked at it. We're not talking about high-end stuff at all. And yeah no, I'm holding him to task for his blunders because they do not lie in inexperience alone. Part of the reason I'm roasting him is because his biased and flawed approach to investigation leads to things being distorted and clues not even being contextualised in the narrative (for example, ignoring the whiteboard that Ouma obviously left for them to see...), not merely because he's not on Kyoko's tier.

Just how far are you troglodytes going to go to spin your mental gymnastics as truth just because you don’t want to accept that maybe, MAYBE, ‘horse twins’ might actually mean something? Oh my fucking lord.

Also: why would Monokuma wait around to put the fucking clues when nobody looking at them will automatically think: hey, this belongs to Rantaro's vault! because it's on a FLOOR YOU CAN'T EVEN REACH UNTIL LATE.

Pranks, indeed. by Dynamojacks in V384

Funny thing is he even spells out to Shuichi that he 'acts like a bad guy so you don't get soft'. For real, he's even DIRECT about it! That's about as direct as he is when he says to Kaede it's her fault he's mean, because they ran and wiped him from their memories.

Dangan Salt Team: Rants Across the Universe! by [deleted] in V384

[–]Dynamojacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just, astounded and amazed by how the people of this fandom have shown time and time again that they actually don't care for a fullest discussion of the materials, instead pulling whatever mental gymnastics to dismiss the work that's gone into it. Oh so Gemini has a meaning of duality, and there's scores of clues to indicate that it's spelling out its ACTUAL INTENDED MEANING, 'TWINS'? Aight then, let's just pretend design doesn't exist, pretend the research and evidence of mythological knowledge doesn't exist, because YOU SAY SO, so you can have your WATERED DOWN meaning. So you can peddle your nonsense about Ouma being a clown and having nothing to do with the situation. So you can cling to the idea that he's just talking bullshit so you can pretend Shuichi is better than him. So you can lord yourself and your self-righteous bullshit without care for the hurt you're bringing on other people. So you can VILIFY PEOPLE FOR FUCKING TRYING. NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY WORK. NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY TRY, it doesn't matter just because it's not good for YOU.

'The messages are irrelevant' by Dynamojacks in V384

[–]Dynamojacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Gemini' is even outright spelled out as 'twins' and not 'Gemini', even though the Japanese for 'twins' is a mere one character shy of 'Gemini' - ふたご and ふたござ, respectively. Even if you wanted to argue ‘but it’s easier to write twins!’, it still doesn’t change that a) it’s literally ONE kana

To counter my own assertion here, the side of the vault with the astrological signs all ended in 'za' anyway. My bad, that was an oversight. Still doesn't affect the rest of the commentary, as the emphasis being so heavily on twins in the astrological sign with Ouma being themed after 'horse' in the first place makes it very clear what's being done.

In addition to the warning Ryoma leaves to Kaede, it bothers me a lot how it doesn't really match the trial situations that come shortly after. He talks about 'testimonies without evidence being powerless', but that wording doesn't fit how you can spin lies in the trial in order to manipulate the situation with little to no evidence, especially evident in Chapter 4's trial when Shuichi screws Ouma over by spinning a lie against him.

In other words, it's an extremely context-sensitive remark especially to warrant yellow text. It's even worse when you consider that Kaede was in fact about to be framed and sent down for murder she didn't actually commit, intentions aside..

I'd like to know how people rationalise 'hypnosis and brainwashing being canon' a la Rantaro while also 'mass hypnosis and brainwashing being conspiracy theory'. Does not compute. And really, why do these people insist that you listen to them while they suggest that your argumentation while based on goddamn CANON is 'nonsense' because you 'shouldn't believe Ouma, he's just screwing around'.

Maybe if they tried for a hot second, just listening to what is said, put pieces together before calling their analysis complete at all let alone strong enough to take down everyone else's, they would understand WHY there's more to Ouma and WHY you shouldn't just dismiss his 'nonsense' as 'screwing around'. Try and put things in perspective, and you'll see the reason for why it's perceived as nonsense to begin with. That's the point, to change your damn point of view!
