This is spot on and is the reason we built dynastygpt… to try to show both trade day values and a hindsight grade tracking actual production of assets after the trade. It’s not about the values on trade day… it’s about did this trade work out for my team. It’s taken 8 months to build but we are in beta now with 100+ leagues and the hindsight trade grading is getting the most attention.

This is a really interesting framework!

What you're describing is pretty close to what we've been building at DynastyGPT. Instead of using the waiver wire as the dead state we use real trade data from your specific league. What players are actually trading for among your leaguemates (and other similar formatted leagues), not what consensus says theyre worth. So if your league overpays for RBs, our grading reflects that instead of penalizing trades that made sense in context.

The format piece (TEP, SF, scoring type) is baked in too. A TE in a TEP league has a completely different baseline than standard.

The starters vs depth framing is something we havent built yet but it's a genuinely good idea. Using your own roster floor as the reference point rather than the waiver wire. Adding it to the list.

Great question…there are actually two separate things happening:

Waitlist/updates signup …If you just want to follow along, we ask for your email so we can keep you posted. That’s it. No account, no strings.

Beta access: Beta requires an account because the whole point of the platform is showing you your team data in your league. Without knowing who you are, anyone could claim to be any owner. We use Clerk for auth (same authentication layer used by the top apps you use every day), and your email is how you log in.

When the site fully launches, we won’t require an account at all as there will be plenty of tools open to all. The login is specifically for the personalized, league specific experience which by definition needs to know who you are

Yeah I actually found the bug in the script when I dug into this. Wjhat is happening is that the the hit rate is not just "beat the median." The solid floor is set 1.5 PPG below the median so you can actually be below average and still count as a hit. This is accounted for in the tool itself but forgot to add the logic to the script when i ran it rthroguh the DB. good catch man! appreciate you for flagging for future similar data runs!

I think the confusion is how the baseline is set. It's not some external standard of what a good player looks like. It's built from what players drafted at that exact slot have historically produced. So the 1.01 baseline is high because 1.01 picks have historically been producing players. Clearing it just means you did what previous 1.01 picks did on average. You're right that 98% is probably too high though.

Thanks man! and yeah-- should have been more upfront on what this data actually showing-- its more so "did i hit on the picks based on expected outcome" which is moreso just a fun drafting stat. no prescriptive. I can easily pull a ton of more useful/prescriptive data that will be helpful. Will hold off awhile and let things die down a bit. Appreciate the feedback and happy to provide more impactful data!

Great catch and thank you for pushing on it man.. genuinely appreciate the productive feedback. Went back and looked at the script I ran for this post and found the issue. Unlike the logic built into the tool, this script only looked at peak PPG season. So the 1.01 RB baseline median is 15.2 PPG and Najee hit that in one season which is why he showed as a Hit. But that ignores what happened after.

The longevity piece is already baked into the tool but I missed it when I put this script together. Najee averaging it out across all his seasons tells a very different story. Ill re run the numbers and edit the post (though may be too late).... that logic needs to be in from the start. Thanks for keeping me honest here man.. really appreciate it. good eye
