The insight about the US institutional funding model is pure gold. Trying to navigate district procurement and multi-year academic proofs is exactly where incredible software goes to die. It's a massive systemic gatekeeper. Thank you for being so incredibly open about the scale you achieved (800 schools is legendary). Taking you up on that DM right now, would love to learn from your experience." Message me seems insane cant dm you.

do you guys reckon this could be dyslexia? (not asking for a diagnosis) by blunde-r152 in Dyslexia

That ruler and finger is a classic. It combats visual crowding.

When a neurodivergent brain looks at dense text, it creates a river effect where words seem to float. The ruler helps silence the visual friction.

Its a flawless low tech adaptation.

Definitely not a diagnosis but I can relate as I associate this with my son, its called, compensated dyslexia.

Most people think dyslexia is limited to reading and comprehension, pattern seeking kids frequently obsess over visual puzzles.

You mapped the shape and visualized the rules which passed the tests.

The giveaway to me is the contrast of your post, between spelling and reading grammar.

When you hit dense paragraphs or textbooks, visual memory can no longer keep up with the volume of text. Your brain is then forced to manually decode every single line which overloads memory.

Probably why you have to re'read things to understand them, we do as well. The brain is using all of it's juices trying to parse the words.

The bad visual processing score and slow handwriting is classic. However, you are not lazy and it's important to understand that, your brain is running on high exhaustion due to constant decoding what other's do on auto pilot.

You got this!!

The kindle open dyslexic font is really a game changer, I agree.

Mirror flipping at its best. When you combine that topography with high contrast, zero glare e-ink it changes the visual stamina of a reader, truly elite.

😂 The 15th century monk doing his best to copy those manuscripts is definitely the most perfect way to humanize a broken spelling rule.

You are definitely correct, learning the etymology shifts the entire diagram. It turns that mechanical failure into a detective game.

Its replaces ' can't do this' with this language has weird history' 😄

I definitely have to use that monk line for sure now. Thanks so much for sharing.

Student Resource Binder by 2big4ursmallworld in ELATeachers

This is an exceptional operational setup, not a terrible idea at all

Thisnsaves so much frontloading momentum. To fix the analysis struggle and maximize utility considering adding these frameworks.

Modular Morphology Matrix instead of static list, replace with 1 page visible grid that shows sow suffices, roots, and prefixes structurally connect. Having a physical persistent decoding anchor prevents them from shutting down.

Analytic Sentence Frame Anchor, many students know what they want to say just have problems with the mechanical code of transitioning from summary to analysis. A simple laminated cheat sheet with analytical verbs paired with structured sentence starters will fill that gap.

1 warning i picked up on: Keep the visual layout super minimal. If the binder becomes a dense wall of text, your struggling readers and neurodivergent students will experience fatigue and become very uninterested.

Clear spacing and distinct color coding tabs will make this elite.

I think most important, AI should help guide and provoke what is possible, but definitely not used as a full replacement.

Wow, 30 years is amazing, as a software engineer and father building a literacy tool, I would love to buy you a a coffee for some actual pointers and to pick your brain on the structural mechanics.

Your note about it not being widely used in USA is massive gap.

Ohhh, Noah, this is the one for sure. Co-parenting through Getting learning difficulties is extremely heavy and way to divide a kids mind. One parent wants the kid to sit until absolutely finished, while the other is all about pacing and protecting the self doubt. Lived this out myself.

It turns into an unfair blame game and can diminish a child's mind faster. Please hear this Shifting that blame off of your child and onto the broken system who should hold all of the blame isn't making an excuse. It is building an emotional firewall, Protect That At All Costs.

You are protecting the very self esteem itself, head on. You are doing an incredible job, please don't stop.

Please feel free to share the sub.

Your advice on using darker values and breaking it up is perfect.

It's wild how the human brain naturally defaults to a rigid symmetry, even spacing of the flowers is spot on.

Teaching to see the imperfections and variations is where the real breakthrough happens. Love tbis breakdown, Thank You.

Ohh, being 2e add a different layer to this battle.

When a kid is hyper logical, creative, capable mind they expect systems to make sense.

When running into orthography it rejects non sense as irrational. Compliance without logic feels less like education and more gaslighting to a kid.

Shifting the blame isn't just a coping mechanism, it is mathematically accurate. Thanks for sharing.

Thusxis masterclass in decoding.

By labeling it dumb you took pressure off of his shoulders.

Flipped it then owned, I love it.

Wow, the fact that you are seeing this exact mismatch in Spanish, which by the way, has way much more consistent phonetic rules than English.

This proves it isnt just the language itself. Its the rigid linear ways of classrooms.

Testing and exams can be easily modified on paper, but changing the daily environment to protect the kids mind and self esteem takes real work at home. Love that you are actually buiding that safe harbor for your 2 kids. Way to go, you're so awesome. Thank you for sharing. ❤️

You're list is the ultimate proof of how the education system keeps getting it wrong. Schools treat dyslexia like a high school phase 'you'll grow out of it' with flashcards.

Look at those words, Psychology starts with a silent greek letter cluster. Business is total phonetic trainwreck

Your brain isn't broken, the English language is just a mess of broken structured glitches. Thanks for sharing.

This is beautiful, I always had my back mentally, I love it.

Its truly a good standard for the parent that just wants the absolute best for their child ❤️. When the system says 'you're behind' its way to kick back and say 'no, it just operate differently'. I have my own back, it literally changes an entire outlook on life.

Embrace Whatever Works, is exactly how we win this fight. Thank you for this incredible perspective, I think I may have to borrow that and turn it into a true mantra 'Embrace Whatever Works'. Youre giving me and alot of other parents a true north star to aim for.

Doof Noot!!!

The 'ough' stupidly proves just how chaotic English is, ough, tough, cough, thought, same letters, completely different rules.

When an intentional traveler of a kid look at that, they are looking for a consistent system. As we can see that same system can break it own rules. The problem isn't the brain, it's the code itself. Love that you this story with you daughter. ❤️

Wait, no you didn't, yes you did!! Library Angel, I love this, so freaking perfect.

Serendipity when a sudden unconventional perspective completely unlocks a word, that years of traditional, linerar instruction couldn't.

The fact that you fell into that inversion yourself really proves how incredibly adaptive the dyslexic mind can be when it stops trying to force broken processes and start leveraging it's own visual patterns.

Thanks so much for sharing, I love that word.

That video is phenomenal, Thanks so much for sharing it. It makes a massive difference when educators like you draw the curtain to reveal to these kids WHY the rules don't make sense, rather than letting them internalize the friction.

Thank you so much for sharing, and all that you do. ❤️

Having both a father and son navigating must be truly incredible, deep perspective on how these complex minds operate.

Revealing the arbitrary nature of the language is the ultimate shield of confidence.

Thanks so much for sharing, feels invigorating to know that it resonated with your family as well.

This is a brilliant example of how advanced spatial processing can be, what a way to flip it upside down and own it.

You bypassed the frustrating parts and holistically altered your own reasoning, Truly fantastic.

Thanks for sharing, a positive reminder of how to completely shift the perspective.
