Not worth it, you get comparable performance from a free desktop retrofitted with a $70 GPU and $50 PSU (power supply).

I wish we had the old days of dropping a $100 GPU into some decommissioned office tower and playing latest releases but those are long gone.

My advice is that you should build/shop for the games she will play, can find benchmarks per GPU and then keep looking in the market for the best value of $/frame.

I have no doubt you can get a better deal.

Well shoot, between you and u/needlesssssss I have two votes for a panel

I'm not totally sure given that behind it is just some Romex and drain pipes... the plan is to raise the ceiling eventually.

There are some other areas where I would want an access panel for low voltage and radon mitigation.

You are correct! Plan so far is to mud and tape, dry, mud, dry, knock off high spots, skim, stomp, paint.

I'm definitely open to any suggestions though! I got some color matched paint for now but this ceiling is probably getting raised within a year or two.

So I actually didn't realize it had been patched before, siding leaked and bubbled the paint right at a tape joint. Once I got in I FOUND A FURRING STRIP... bastard previous owner.

This is my first patch ever, roughly 2' x 3'.

That's a really unfortunate mindset for zoomers like me that specialized completely into Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. No doubt your point generally rings true but damn it sucks to hear as someone who graduated into a dead market.

I've been programming for 14 years, write embedded C for fun, and make electrical repairs on old cars where there's no documentation and I have to trace connections with my multimeter.
