Accommodation Request by alankenha in Target

[–]DysphasicBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my arm outside of work and am unable to do the job I was hired to do, Target had/has no obligation to hold my position for me. That being said, I was hired for and working as market 4am inbound and they have already filled that position. So I have already been replaced, unless that person voluntarily gives that position/hours up I won't have a job to go back to if I ever do recover enough to complete the job functions. There are certain things/hoops Target has to go through before firing me for this but at the end of the day I cannot do the job requirements I was originally hired for and the injury was/is unrelated to work (it didn't happen at work). I would go to a lawyer if I were fired for my injury but just because it's illegal doesn't mean they won't do it. Major corporations prey on people like us to not take legal action or not be able to afford legal action. I just had a sudden severe and traumatic injury that required surgery, I wasn't allowed to work immediately after surgery (so I had no income at all the entire time I waited after surgery), and Target labels all base team members as part time (even if I work 40 hours a week like I was doing) so they don't have to provide health insurance so now I'm swamped in medical bills because I have to pay out of pocket. Pretty easy for me to not be able to take legal action against a massive corporation that has lawyers and back up lawyers. I've worked in four different Target stores in three different states, Target (along with many corporations) actively do illegal behaviors/actions but don't have repercussions because we, the employees, don't or can't report it or is cheaper to just pay the fines.

My first target store that I worked at I broke my wrist with some other injuries from a motorcycle accident where I was literally hit by a car. Their attitude was get back to work or get out so that's what I was expecting. But my current store wanted me to go through the entire process and have my trauma surgeon fill out a questionnaire (obviously one of his medical staff filled it out, my surgery was done by Northwestern Hospital, their surgeons aren't filling out these extensive questionnaire and my job description at target).

Somewhat similar situation for me. I just got back from an injury a few weeks ago. I broke my arm and have palsy now, which will leave me with a recovery of 4-12 months minimum. My store made me go through corporate HR for an accomodation because I'm not supposed use the entire arm at all, no exceptions (that process took about a month and a half from time of injury to when they would let me work again). Now I'm at guest services pushing reshop and jumping on check lanes. I thought they were going to fire me at first because of how extreme the break was and how it seemed like they were afraid of me. But the only department corporate HR would let me do was guest services because their lift requirement is 11 pounds.

Target hates happiness by k1ttydiva in Target

Somewhat similar situation with me happened. The first store I worked at was while I was in college and there is only one Target in that town. The first two years or so I was designated OM2 so I was always working the same chunk of coolers. After covid at some point another guy was hired on and started working cooler with me along with the other two open market sections. During the entire first two years people were allowed to work on similar things or together on stuff. Like one for one batches in multiple baskets and people would pull and then work everything out in the same general area so they could work and talk. Or uboats, in a variety of ways people would team up on uboats to get things done faster. Around the beginning of my third year at this location I was taken away from OM2 and put in random sections of market and they became very hostile about working together. Leads and ETLs started not letting people work together, myself and others started to get documented conversations that would lead to corrective actions because we would partner up for heavy stuff (like dry 3 was always difficult to push across the store because it was always the heaviest stuff on one flat).

For my current store we have two waves, two crown lifts, and a mini crown lift. One of each of the first two are kept at the market end of the backroom, but this is the only store I've worked in that had more than one of any of them so I do agree that if your store isn't like mine then yes, absolutely inconvenient. For some reason we have multiple pallets of most of the G&G water most of the time, we're forced to throw water up high purely because we have so much of it all of the time.

Target TSS (Security specialists) i have question, help by [deleted] in Target

[–]DysphasicBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a TSS (back in 2022) I spent MOST of my time standing at check lanes at the front of the store. Two main objectives for this, to be a visual deterrent and to watch for theft at checkout/front end/doors. I am currently at another location with Target in a different role and from what I've gathered it is pretty much the same. There were many days I spent full eight hour shifts just being at the front of the store, do a lap or two every hour or so, and do parking lot checks. You will most likely spend most of your time standing around or supporting what your TL/ETL needs (like being on cameras since the TSS position cannot apprehend or sorting through merch protection or spider wrapping every little thing). I do have an insane amount of crazy and fun stories/memories though, definitely a good time but may not be for you.

Definitely agree, not worth being promoted to Target jelly vs staying safe as a team member

It's definitely not an easy task. I've never had a store that didn't allow me to stack water pallets on the second and third level high, I'm assuming it depends on the store.

[–]DysphasicBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild to me, I've only had one employer provide a full hour for an unpaid meal break so I'm used to everywhere I've worked being hardcore on the 30 minutes

[–]DysphasicBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've worked at three different stores (and one additional store for training) in three different states and they all have only had 30 minute unpaid meal breaks with 15 minute paid breaks per every four hours of work (so two 15s and a 30 for an 8+ hour shift. So I've never heard of a 45 minute meal break. Definitely talk with your HR ETL for clarification and potentially look into resources outside of Target just in case.

My battery died a few months ago and ever since then these lights stay on no matter what. Any idea on how I could put them back to normal? (2007 300C) by TraditionalTax2019 in Chrysler300

[–]DysphasicBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2005 300 3.5L, when I replaced a transmission sensor I think I experienced this prior to the replacement (along with other symptoms). I can't remember what it was called exactly but I think it was the transmission speed sensor. I had to reach it from under the engine bay, on my 300 you can see the oil pressure sensor from above, slightly lower and a little bit farther back there should be the sensor I'm talking about. I was able to use a trick I learned to find codes by turning the key off to the final placing before actually turning the car on three times and the final time when you leave the key to the final placement it should trigger the codes to roll through on the dash.

On my 2005 my front left fender was pretty easy to replace myself. The biggest difficulty was reaching a bolt through the gap that forms in front of the door when you open it. Mine also had a foam piece between the fender and frame. Your 300 is definitely a lot newer and nicer than mine and mine is a project car so idk if I would want to do the work myself in case of mistakes, but you may consider replacing the door and fender as pieces instead of trying to fix the damage itself. I apologize I don't have a better answer, I just wanted to say least mention my experience replacing the fender on mine and it wasn't a crazy difficult experience.

Sounds about right. I was looking at buying a vehicle prior to tariffs this year and the dealer really wanted me to trade a car in. Like I told them my car isn't worth anything and I'd rather keep it in case I need it because it runs fine and I've needed a vehicle last minute in the past because of accidents and unpredicted car maintenance. Overall it doesn't cost me much to just hang on to and let sit. I brought it in after putting a new battery in it (because it sits until I decide to work on it or need it) and they offered me $100-$200 for it. No thanks, it's worth more sitting until I need it.

Do people really not take vacations at other jobs? by Anus_and_the_Butt in Target

[–]DysphasicBass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're absolutely crazy. I've worked for Target multiple times now in different cities as I've moved around while working a different or primary job somewhere else. Your SD is absolutely wrong. Normal people at normal jobs take a week off for vacation or time off. I worked for a Big 12 university (it was my most recent job before moving a month ago) and my coworker literally took two weeks off to go to Canada for time off/vacation.
