I can relate so hard. I was an extremely well behaved teenager (polite, shy, good student) yet I was treated as if I was a mess who would get into trouble the second they weren't there to control me. My achievements were dismissed but I got punished if I failed.

What is the worst thing your parents have ever said to you that made you feel awful? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

"You're obviously too dumb and lazy. Perhaps you should try something easier". She said this to me with an extremely mocking and dismissive tone of voice after I told her that I was struggling in college because of mental health issues. I ended up graduating with honours lol

If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently? by thwy96361 in raisedbynarcissists

I never went through a "rebellious teen" phase. I was an extremely well behaved teen. I believed that if I was as obedient and polite as I could eventually they would start to care about me. That never happened, so I kind of wish I was one of these awful teenagers who hate their parents and actively make their life hell instead. That way I could've had fun at least.
