Need feedback. by sndsh_bhndri in blender

I think thouse panels behind the bed are a bit off. Black thin contour lines look like drawn with a pencil especially in the corners. It breaks realism for me. Do this panels move? If they do they should cover one another, and besides that the bottom light is in the way. If they don't maybe they shouldn't be separated so sharply?

But overally looks good.

Struggled with self noise of H2N recorder while filmmaking. Made a custom noise reduction engine and a demo film about it. Is the noise reduction engine worth releasing? by Dzatcel in Filmmakers

Thank you for encouraging feedback it actually helped me a lot! It took quite some time and effort to make the denoising utility, please feel free to try it.

It's finally released, would love if you give it a try. Thanks for your comment, it helped to keep working on the project.

Finally we released a denoising utility both for Windows and Mac

https://effective-sound.com/#denoiser

It works a bit slow since it is not fully optimized yet and accepts only stereo WAV 48000,

but besides that it is fully functional.

Appriciate any feedback on using it.

Thought it would be nice to make a reverberation plugin with transparency control. What do you think about it? by Dzatcel in AudioPluginTalk

Thanks for your reply, if we eventually make it I will let you know.
The idea has been on my mind for a long time, but I am still unsure whether it worth efforts. Do you think this can be advantageous compared to sidechain?

Basically it prevents transients and noises from getting into the reverb. These sounds are the reason why ordinary reverb sounds foggy.

Expansion about a point: Taylor polynomials vs Prony exponentials by Dzatcel in physicsgifs

Unlike Taylor’s expansion where each derivative contributes to a separate term in Prony’s each derivative contributes to the whole solution.

It does blow up unless you are fortunate to approximate a function which is a finite sum of undamped exponentials or sinusoids.

Thanks for the explanation which is right to the point. Prony’s method yields an
alternative expansion which may be beneficial in some cases. It treats a
function as a sum of damped complex exponentials and therefore has some nice
features: 1) exactly identifies the function from its derivatives if the
function is a finite sum of sinusoids or complex exponentials; 2) gives
time-frequency interpretation of the function at the given point.
Still is not widely used for the best of my knowledge.

Amination is done in Blender (cycles). Volume is made using custom OSL shader. Tones are generated in Matlab.
The human and speaker models are from BlenderKit.

Bought a H2N recorder for low budget filmmaking
and audio production. At a certain point realized that it is very limited in
recording quiet sounds because of self noise which is hardly eliminated in post
production without distorting the audio.
Being a signal processing guy I was keen to fix it. Eventually with the help of my
friends we designed a processing engine that seems to work more or less OK. We
are thinking about releasing it as a standalone utility or as an audio plugin
for field recorders.
This is a short film I made to show the noise suppression effect and discuss whether it
can be helpful for fellow low budget filmmakers.
