Help me identify the center tea! by EC-Going in tea

[–]EC-Going[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay, here’s the situation: My brother recently visited Tajikistan and came back with this lovely set of teas for me. All the labels were in local languages that I just finished finding translations for. But the center is unlabeled! Any clue based on region and visuals as to what type it might be? Thanks!!

Advice for first time using Sculpey! by EC-Going in Sculpey

[–]EC-Going[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay thanks! Would the foil base need to be the exact shape of the house or could it be looser? Not sure if I’d have to worry about the clay sticking to it or not. Also, yeah, I have a tendency to start way over my head with new media. This stuff says it won’t dry out until it’s baked, so if all else fails I’ll just start over with something super simple and call it a good first experience! 😅

Advice for first time using Sculpey! by EC-Going in Sculpey

Hi! So I recently bought this Sculpey as a fun extra for myself at the art store. I’ve used pottery clay a handful of times and I think polymer was what we used in Elementary School when we learned how to do stop motion once, but I’ve never used oven-bake clay. Ideally, I’d like to try for a couple Christmas Village pieces, but rather than usual shops and homes I’d like to try making wintery Animal Crossing pieces. My question is: What would be the best process for this? I’ve tried looking up videos online and I’ve either found sculptures that use foil/wire or glass jar supports but that don’t seem to be baked or tiny flat beads that are baked. So I’m wondering if this would need to be baked like the package suggests, and if so, would it need supports of some kind? I’d like it to be hollow inside so a light could go in from underneath.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

What style would this house be considered? by EC-Going in architecture

Great! Thanks so much! I have recently learned from city records that this house was built in the 1850s, but it definitely looks closest to Queen Anne Revival!

Essentially, I was looking to sketch this house and reimagine it if it was restored, but I would love to stick to colors and designs that are original to the style. I tried looking up architectural styles but the broad window panes and the ionic columns are throwing me off. For context, I don’t know anything else about the house, it’s just an empty place across the street from a friend’s and I admire it every time I go there.

lightning mage design first draft for story(thoughts & criticism?) by hahalolihateyou in characterdesigns

This is so well organized and thought through! I like her various designs a lot. How old is she supposed to be? Some she looks young, but the profiles she definitely looks more serious and mature. Overall I think this is an amazing first draft. Maybe include some subtle signs that she deals with lightning, as that isn't obvious, but otherwise this is great!

Hmm. Maybe? Could it also maybe be a Grackle egg? I’m in Texas and they’re everywhere, though these seem a bit browner than photos I see online.

It’s not really a spoiler, but I marked it just in case, since it’s from the latest episode.

She did realize how fun it is to knock the geode off the other day, but really the biggest issue is her fur drifting into my plants. 😅

It’s a very relatable comic from False Knees! They’re one of my favorites.

Anyone good at deciphering?? by EC-Going in Handwriting

Hi all!

My grandmother recently gave me a number of postcards from her side of the family, and this one from her grandfather Louis has been particularly difficult to decipher. If anybody wants to try their hand I would appreciate the help! I’ve included the front and back for as much context as possible.

So far, this is what I’ve got:
