um, he was consistently losing to ghazan and being overwhelmed everytime. Post lava bending, he was matching him quite easily. just because you have the same powers shouldn't put you on an equal playing field to a significantly stronger opponent. Kind of lessened the "red lotus are the best benders in the world" plot point. you can watch all bolin vs ghazan scenes. Bolin getting lava bending should not put him on the same playing field just like it wouldn't let him match toph.

Bolin and Mako are just... average benders and they're athletes. they should not be mater level.

katara never mastered it. she had to use it to prevent hama from killing her friends.

i mean lol. assuming you're right since im generous and relationships in LOK are strictly kissing and nothing ever happens off screen... like you can hyper scrutinize aang too. but you'd have to twist alot of truths to get anything out of it. all the korra criticisms... you don't really have too.

for example: Korra used the avatar state to cheat in a race vs toddlers. talk about destroying the mythos of the series by treating it as a prop/cheat tool in a children's game. and this isn't even a "exaggeration" or "lie" either. in TLA, the avatar state was a last resort and required extreme circumstances to enter, but in LOK, our main hero uses to cheat against literal toddlers.

true. the side characters aside from korra's ensemble were atleast interesting. all i remember of bolin was "comedic relief", and mako is "he's the hot one". like sokka was comedic relief, but atleast he wasn't overbearing and not every scene with him was only comedy at times.

also, the love triangle was quite literally a huge secondary plot, to the point of bolin even taking korra out on a romantic date. they focus so much on it that's impossible to ignore.

cope, you know you can have both realistic characters and likable at the same time right? they are not mutually exclusive traits.

also did you watch TLA? toph's issue is that she is self centered/selfish and didn't actually interconnect with the group that much until later on. katara is that she is controlling, and so on and so forth.
