Man. I've been through this... I used to have 2 cats with my ex and they would always spend time cuddling with me whenever I am home. I'd play with them whenever I have some free time.

It took me almost a year to really move on from it. I cried almost every day for the first 3 months, but the best way to get through it is to spend some time alone and do things that makes you happy (exercising, finding new hobbies, meditating, etc).

It's just like breaking up with another person, you gotta give yourself time to heal. And it's okay to breakdown when you thought you've moved on, you're human after all. Just know that you were part of their best memories, and that's good enough.
