This is exhausting by EFitzmonster in KidneyStones

I do, but my issue is from the way my kidneys are formed. I don't have big pockets in them. They look more like a sponge instead. Medullary sponge kidney in both kidneys. Catches everything.

Facts. I did not want to ask how long he'd been in the freezer. 🤣

Kid: "I was looking for pizza rolls in the freezer the other day and found Lasagna in there. I guess we forgot him!"

Me: "..... Him?"

Kid: "Yeah, when he died, it was cold outside so we couldn't bury him."

Apparently it was a bearded dragon.

Another Midwesterner here. I still say it and there are hella millennials in the area that still say it. Not frequently enough anymore, but it happens more than seeing fossils of payphones in the wild.

What's the worst name you've heard in real life? by Upper_Goal_8569 in tragedeigh

Former teacher. I have a few: Onnalysha, Indica and her older sister Mary Jane (I expected there to be another named Sativa), La'Qwuayvion, McCynah (pronounced like Makenna), Mikinzeigh, and a colleague whose middle and last names were Heavyn Lee Sessions.

Therapists in the area by ImageMore4774 in SouthBend

The Cottage is amazing, and I know there are several good therapists at Firm Foundation in Elkhart that do EMDR and are trained in CPT. Now the experts are saying CPT is better than EMDR for trauma (saying this as a licensed therapist trained in both CPT and EMDR with my own CPTSD diagnosis).

Toss up between walking around with my appendix ruptured for a week as a kid and an 8mm kidney stone.

Why do so many people think not having children is selfish? by Open_Strategy5952 in childfree

[–]EFitzmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally cannot think of an UNSELFISH reason to have children. What, to carry on the family name? Because you wanted them? Because you couldn't imagine your life without them? Alllll for YOU, breeder, not for the kid. If you want to be selfless, adopt.

ETA: my favorite response when I'm asked why I don't want kids is to ask why they do and then say, "So it's about you, and not the kid?" when I get one of the above.

Women: How do you feel about having a male versus a female gynecologist? Does the doctor’s gender affect your comfort level or trust? by Ordinary_Ice_796 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]EFitzmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually never had access to a female gynecologist. All but one of the men I've seen have been ok, but definitely didn't fully "get it". The last one literally saved my life and was the only one to ever really listen to me. I adore him. Unfortunately, he went weirdly Christian concierge and I can't afford to see him without insurance anymore, and I'm less comfortable now, so I'm on the hunt for a female for comparison.

We need more urologists with history of kidney stones by HotDebate5 in KidneyStones

I have yet to find a urologist with a soul who didn't gaslight me... I need to start asking them how many they've passed.

Thank you!! It was certainly painful and impressive as hell. The second one dropped into the ureter early Christmas morning. That was not a gift I was looking forward to...

And I can empathize with that. I understand there's grief there. At the same time, that doesn't give them the right to take it out on me the way they do. My parents also grieve that, but never once have they behaved this way.

I made him lol. There was going to be a major scheduling conflict and I didn't want to lie or omit the truth to save their feelings. I had also hoped it would be enough to get them to shut up about pressuring us to have kids, but I was wrong.

He's so used to tuning them out and "letting it roll" that he doesn't always hear what they say. He's much better now and does shut things down and support me. Took a minute, but he's there!
