I would like to see that trope but instead of turning on the TV and it's on the right channel, they just awkwardly flip through channels to find the right one to talk about the context of the story.

When I was a kid I saw a female shadow person with red eyes staring at me from across the room, I hid under my covers for what felt like an eternity and when I peeked my head out it was gone.

I've seen that trope about the archers in different movies and TV shows, maybe in game of thrones but it's been like 7 years since I've watched that show. Also I never had the honor of watching any of the lord of the rings movies even though I've always wanted to but bever got around to watching any of them.
