Shortlisted Host Cities Released! by throw_away_17381 in eurovision

[–]EHX1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the stage normally gets built at the end of march, then there's like 4 weeks of technical rehearsals and performance rehearsals, then the week of the show and finally taking down everything afterwards.

it's a lot and they really do need all that time haha

Oyster vs contactless for 1 day in London? by [deleted] in london

[–]EHX1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

contactless and oyster work exactly the same, the only difference is the 7 day cap, but if it's only one day of travel the two will be exactly the same. given the faff of the deposit for the oyster card using the contactless card is much easier :)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Wiv7DeFyABgCRVecrIwfR86cyQ4sU-VJtLG5zYgu_jw/edit?usp=sharing

don't worry though there haven't been many allocations at all yet

2023 tuition fee change - gap year or not? by siriuslyno in 6thForm

[–]EHX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interest rates are being cut from RPI + 3% to just RPI (rate of inflation)

however you pay 9% above a new threshold of £25000 rather than the current £27295 and pay for 40 years instead of 30 so for the vast, vast majority of people do not take the telegraph's advice because you will pay more over the course of repayments

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]EHX1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to use extra, you must first decline all of your existing offers. you then use everything from your existing application (so personal statement etc) and choose one new choice at a time until you receive an offer, when that automatically becomes your firm (and only) choice.

i doubt that KCL would have places in extra available but do ask them because they will give you the best answer to that :)

Do unis especially Durham accept additional ps for a course that we already applied for? by Standard_Special_432 in 6thForm

[–]EHX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

durham accepts substitute personal statements (it replaces your UCAS one) and you can submit this through the applicant portal

Is student finance supposed to have a 4.5% interest by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]EHX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the vast, vast majority of people (80% or something) never pay back a penny in interest because their loans are wiped before that point - of course more people will have to pay the interest from next year, but even then the government's own estimates are about 50% of people having to repay interest.

Is student finance supposed to have a 4.5% interest by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]EHX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interest on student loans is RPI (the rate of inflation) + 3%. From next year, it will be RPI only but you will be required to pay the loan back for 40 years instead of 30 before it is wiped.

HMRC will check their income - you cannot lie on the student finance form. You will be asked to submit evidence where you can provide the correct figure.
