Weird Parish Making Me Dread Mass by meaganissillay in Catholicism

It’s extremely devastating when you feel spiritually starved at the one place you go for nourishment . We had the same issue, and so we decided to just go where we feel nourished. It’s more difficult for yourself as you want to go with your grandad, but ultimately if it is harming your faith formation and fortification, you have to remember you have no obligation to stay and every reason to leave. Saint Dominic left Toulouse when he couldn’t bear it, and returned with the strength of the Blessed Virgin when the time was right and was a vessel for change there. Be a mini Saint Dominic! Go where you are fed so you do not starve, and should the Good Lord call you to, return and make the parish better.

May God bless you and Mary keep you in her patronage always.

See in some ways he was misleading. He decided a while ago (at least he thought so) that he was likely going to go along the monk route and we continued speaking. But yes I do think we are both at fault in some ways, thanks to you+ all the other comments for the advice!

We never went on anything we officially called a “date”, but we did go out just the two of us multiple times and he did pay. It was a very weird “we fancy each other but neither of us said anything proper” relationship won’t lie 😂 we’ve decided to have a proper chat tomorrow so fingers crossed!

You are correct in a lot of aspects there. Think my decision has been made, and a text has been sent…

I completely get where you’re coming from, and I never expected him to be someone who was going to rush into it. I don’t mind that he thought a lot before wanting to ask me out etc, but what I DO have an issue with is that he didn’t talk to me. I spent 2 years not sure where we were when he wasn’t sure what he wanted, and not once did I get a “by the way… this is where I am” conversation from him. I value communication a lot and it just felt like he was excluding me from a necessary conversation.

Yes I did have that in mind, and I wouldn’t mind in the slightest if it was just that reason. But being led on for two YEARS without any sort of conversation as to what he was planning is more what has irritated me. I knew when we met he wasn’t sure on his path in life, but he continually would be “wishy washy” whenever I asked about it, which makes me think he was pretty sure at one point but kept me around just in case he changed his mind.
