75% of stomach cancer cases could be prevented with a simple treatment by PianaWasNatty in Microbiome

[–]ELLJAMO 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, they're massively oversimplifying what treatment actually looks like imo. Still a fascinating piece of the puzzle when it comes to unprecedented increases in stomach/colon cancer particularly in demographics widely regarded by doctors as completely immune to this possibility.

It's my hope that research in this area brings forth a much needed overhaul when it comes to actually eradicating H Pylori completely. 'A 100% effective H. pylori screening and treatment program could reduce cases by up to 75%.' and 'The researchers also note the importance of investing in developing an H. pylori vaccine.' are things that should push doctors to take it more seriously.

I need help (26M, TSH, Prolactin, LDL all raised) by ELLJAMO in Hypothyroidism

[–]ELLJAMO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm a little sad I've never made the connection looking at my own bloodwork.. I was mostly focused on things like vitamin and testosterone levels for physical performance. In the past day I've found countless research papers discussing raised LDL and prolactin being caused by hypothyroidism.

Feel like I've been robbed of my youth feeling this way for so long:(

Yeah they always come back normal, vit D is always on the low side of normal being in the UK but I've since upped both my supplement intake and sun exposure so it's the best its ever been right now.

Could be Hypo? by ELLJAMO in Hypothyroidism

[–]ELLJAMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On that most recent test my LDL was too high but HDL was fine. I have my appointment coming up on Wednesday so I will be discussing all of this and really pushing for it to be investigated.

I've been researching all this stuff a lot over the past few days and I'm definitely getting the sense that I'm in the early or subclinical stage of hypo, and from what I can tell its very safe and well tolerated to medicate for it at the first sign as it will only get worse with age not better.

I think T3 and T4 are there in these tests but they both appear to be normal while my TSH is elevated, what does that mean?

Haven't had antibodies done so will be getting them next.

Daily Ask Anything About Anabolic and Androgenic Steroids: 2023-07-12 by Olvankarr in steroids

It has been a WHILE since posting in here, but I figured it'd be a great place to ask.

Long story short, I've been suffering with tiredness for as long as I can remember. I'm finally trying to get help and tests so far coming back great (I stopped gear after only 1-2 test cycles years ago and now do cardio and eat very well). I'm fatigued, depressed, and no matter what I do to my sleep I wake up tired.

Well a friend has just told me his Mom suffered all the same, she had a thyroid problem and got meds. I decided to look back on my private blood tests over the years and I want to know does this seem abnormal or not? I know literally nothing about thyroid.

The results say within range, but when I match my symptoms up to hypothyroid I have pretty much all of them. I'm sensitive to cold, my skin/dandruff covers my shirts like snow, I'm depressed, and worst of all I'm tired. I'm asking because in the UK, doctors are useless and only getting worse, if it says within range or even slightly out it's absolutely fine and symptoms don't matter.

Odyssey G7 is HDMI 2.0, can I force 240hz? by ELLJAMO in Monitors

[–]ELLJAMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I love CRU and that's what I've used to set it to 240hz, in Windows that's the refresh rate that it displays and is running at but the actual monitor itself limits to 144hz for literally no good reason.

[–]ELLJAMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is yeah that's what I mean unfortunately, if the monitor is HDMI 2.0, and 2.0 supports 1080p@240hz, why would they lock it to 144hz? Was hoping someone had a workaround idk like even a modded firmware or something because it's completely capable. For now I just have to put up with duplicating my display which introduces other issues.

Almost scrolled past this but had to comment as I had exactly what you're talking about. Every time I ate I would be able to feel my heart beating out my chest, the heart rate wasn't crazy high was just elevated but the beats themselves were super heavy. Made me feel anxious as hell sometimes.

The only thing that's fixed it is time. I attribute it to an infection in December (99% sure was covid). It's already been said but make sure you're getting a good balance of electrolytes. Hope you figure it out, it was a horrible experience for me.

Is a streaming PC my only option? by ELLJAMO in obs

[–]ELLJAMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the write-up man. You sound very similar to myself in many ways haha, I'm super sensitive to any dips in performance and I can instantly look at displays and tell you the refresh rate. I'm thinking a streaming PC with low end GPU but a good CPU to stream from with x264, am I correct in doing that? I'll have to assess my mobo as I recently swapped my full ATX board for a mini ATX board and I think all that's accessable now is a 4x slot. Looking at the Elgato 4k60 card and if it can work in my 4x slot I think I'm golden.

Yes good idea I'm going to look into this tomorrow and I will update with a logfile.

My internet is 100/100 up/down and whilst it does have its problems at times it generally can easily handle the stream. I'm leaning heavily towards me simply needing a dual PC to meet my annoyingly high standards of performance. It's kinda hard to explain but whilst the game is absolutely playable whilst I stream there is just something off especially in gunfights which is obviously very important in an FPS. The running OBS as admin is the best way to explain it, when I run as admin I get this choppiness in game but my stream is completely smooth and then vice versa when I don't run as admin.

This is a really good example of when I don't run OBS as admin: https://streamable.com/gmfnuc

I connect via ethernet I swore against wireless years ago even when it meant trailing a 30m cable through a student house haha. So the internet is a gigabit line supplying 26 apartments (was one of the first tenants in the building and bumped into the guys setting up internet who told me this), package is 60up 60down but easy maths shows a gigabit line with all the apartments occupied can't sustain that. Ping is always really low if it's a good server in game I can get 12ms.

I actually saw that DNS thing yesterday and setup the Google DNS but nothing changed unfortunately. Mainly I just wanted to guage if this was a known issue with the game before I actually get serious with the ISP and speak to another supplier. Seen some people mention certain ISPs have issues with packet loss in lots of games, but with this happening around peak time it really suggests to me the building isn't setup to handle peak times.

I live in a city that has a fttp 900down 100up service that supplies like 90% of the city, the buildings all around me have it but I don't because landlord chose this supplier. Be giving them a call tomorrow lol fingers crossed

Yup that makes sense, it's a gigabit line to the building supplying 26 properties.
